  1. Thanks... I feel like a newb now. I am on zdriver more often. Find myself cruising over here for the good info. I didn't even realize that there was a part of the forum just for MegaSquirt. So far it's been a help. I am looking for the wiring on the 81 CAS system. I can use the factory trigger wheel an hall effect from the 81ZXT right? I hear you have to re-orientate the wheel like 71 degrees so it actually sits at TDC. Thought that would be programmable through the MSII. Where is the actual wiring diagram for using the factory pickup? Did I miss that? I did not see it. Like I said. I am poor right now, thanks to what I am dumping into the Z. So, I have little internet time. Thanks for the help so far, hope I can get a little more.
  2. I am sure that there is already a thread discussing Megasquirt conversion on an L28ET. I have an 81, with the CAS on the crank. Stock ECM is shot. Have an upgraded T3/T4 60 trim. Going to upgrade to a good rail, and better fuel injectors. See no reason to keep inadequate factory ECM. So where is the thread that stated what is needed to buy for a MSII system in a Z? Did a search, but I get little internet time, and could not find it. Someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks!
  3. Well. I am missing the impeller nut... Going to take off my intake manifold tonight anyway to make sure there are no fragments in the intake, and do a leak down to make sure that I didn't already lose a valve. Although the engine ran great except for the butt plug of a seized turbo. lol When I take the exhaust and intake off I will probably just go ahead and weld on an adapter for the wastegate. I don't really like welding on cast iron even when done properly. The changes in heat expansion between the two metal types normally will cause a crack after enough time. Seems cheaper than going the other route for now.
  4. Typo... I meant T3/T4 hybrid. Not T4/T4.. I think that space would work, but I would have to go to aftermarket boost hose and fittings. I can get that easy enough though. Thanks. Would I get by with the factory pop-off valve on the intake manifold being set at 8psi and no wastegate on a T3/T4? I should not get much boost creep, but the turbo would be going nuts... I might do it, drive it easy, see what happens. I will get the turbo Thursday, but the other parts would have to wait till I have the fundage.
  5. I have a T4/T4 60 trim available to me in great condition for a great price. But, I will need an external wastegate. What would be the best way to run one with the stock exhaust manifold? Could I get by without one for a while with the factory pop-off valve on the intake manifold set at 8psi? Could I use the housing with the internal wastegate on the factory turo and rebuild the other using it to have an internal wastegate? Thanks. I am a little green on turbos with Z cars, and non industrial applications.
  6. THey sell them there eh? I built mine in the shop a while back. Comes in handy. I have one for 120psi, and one for 600psi. (CAT Diesel) Thanks for the help. Off to the salvage yard to find the adjustable linkage.
  7. Not missing a piece. But the linkage is too far forward on the FI manifold compared to the Canon intake manifold I had running my triples. I am on another persons computer. Loading pictures is proving to be difficult. I have it adjusted to where it barely fits inside the piece on the firewall. The L shaped bent rod that goes from the firewall to the rod in the manifold it the part that I will make longer if I need too. This is on a 260Z 2+2.
  8. Okay... The engine is in and running. Not great, but I need injectors pretty bad. A couple q's. First.. Knock sensor. In the instructions to swap over the engine, there is no where to plug the knock sensor into. I can tell when an engine pings, but is there a way that I can easily wire it to the ECM? Is it even really needed? Second. The throttle linkage does not reach the swivel on the firewall.... What is normally done to make it longer? I can weld one later, but don't have a welder on hand for a while. That's it I think. Thanks for the help. I did a search, but I suck with searches. I never get the results I need, and after an hour of reading, I lose time I can be working on the Z. Also, anyone in the Phoenix area, I will try and bring it to the Pavilions tonight.
  9. Hate to drudge up an old thread. But, my gas tank is trash. I want to remove some weight, and figure by taking the wheel well out, with the old tank and straps, that should shave some weight. What kind of bracing should be done to maintain at least factory rigidity in the area? Figure I can tackle this as a weekend project, but I need to know what kind of time I will have to spend bracing the area, and if the added weight of bracing will add up to what I wanted to eliminate. Thanks for any help, or ideas.
  10. Man, I need to find a place fast. How hard is it to find a house with a 4-5 car garage, with a two post lift, and 1 bedroom? I want to get started on this project fast. Last thing I crammed an engine into was a Suzuki Samurai, and it wasn't even mine... I think I am going to mount the turbos in front of the engine though. Make more use out of the room, and leave them to where I can get to them. But, that would be much easier if I got more proficient with TIG.
  11. Well... Not just for the sake of originality, but I am going to do this swap hopefully in the near future. I will be doing all the work. Not a problem. That is what saves on cost. Materials ar not so bad, I can get much of that from work. My biggest cost is going to be the garage to do the work in. haha Buying a house first.
  12. Sorry about that. For some reason, I did not see that there were other pages to the thread. Just not used to the format here. But, I will be. Looks like there is a load of information here. Thanks for the reply anyhow.
  13. This is looking great. Where do the turbos sit? Is there going to be any issues there? Any more progress with the build? I was seriously considering an RB26DETT swap, but with the support of the VG, and just being able to find it cheaper, and get parts for it. I think it would make more sense. Besides the fact that the VG engine has more technology put into it's engineering. Wow. Only thing holding me back is finding a house to buy with a garage.
