  1. Ordered some gaskets from him. The head gasket came in bent with a nasty kink. No way I could use it. He packaged up a new one no questions asked and sent a replacement for me to keep going on my project. Great service and reasonable prices. We need to support our hobby, so we are not left out on our own. It will happen. Have a neighbor that works on Model t's and old 20's to 40's cars. He has to make all his parts whether its replacement or customizing.
  2. Did the Z32 front brake swap Looks awesome and works better than stock with original BMC. Have the Z32 master cylinder and plan on installing once I get the turbo install sorted out. I am also working on getting the Z32 rear brakes adapted to the rear. I have to say thanks to my brother. He threw the idler bearing on his 300zx ruined the motor, bent all the valves and the auto tranny was slipping. So he has given me all these parts to use.
  3. Great,,, hope my install goes that smooth!
  4. Thanks for putting in your knowledge/experience and opinions in the thread rebekah. I will definitely work on the things you told me. The one thing about flooring it on a straight, I am, the car is slow hehe. My brother's 1.6 liter Kia Rio is faster in a drag race. Ya my seats are horrible, on my way home i noticed i had a softball sized bruise on my hip from banging the door. I agree on the braking, i am very timid on my brakes and have always had a fear of locking them up since my previous car's brakes were utterly horrid. It was my first time autocrossing so any hints are very much appreciated. To live is to learn and to learn is to live! The tires are flat worn out. BFGoodrich G sports that were roasted from my 240sx. Oh and even though i may look slow, my times were faster then a turbo rx8 and only half a second from 2 of those new Subaru Brz's =D
  5. Just read it all. Looks like it will awesome when your done!
  6. Quit looking at it and put the thing on!! Lets make some C02
  7. Wow that is a lot of experience, knowledge and readinig in that statement. Thanks I was thinking that was somehow the way suspension works.
  8. Thanks I think I got a lead on something close to the house, I will keep it in mind.
  9. right or left side R180,, Thanks
  10. Anyone have one laying around? What ever fits a 1974! Central Florida area, travel often to Tampa, Ocala, Daytona.
  11. I no my dad ran into issues with this when he went to Chevy dual valve springs (LS3) on his air cooled vw motors. He wiped them as early as cam break in, and in first run of the race. It would wipe the cam and pit the lifters. Major problem, did not here about stock setups being much of a problem. He tried the additives and different oils, Valvoline, amsoil. I think he even tried the old GM oil leftover from the 70's. Major issue was the spring rate over the nose and something about the lifter quit spinning. He ended up going with aftermarket engine blocks and roller lifters. When your turning 9000+ rpms he needed to have springs that would hold the valves shut ,, ie no valve float. I know there are oils out there that have added the zinc, Valvoline and amsoil. A good preventative for what you have your hard earned money invested in.
  12. Ok,, I think I understand. The spring rate makes the bounce back sharper or faster and the dampening of the shocks will get blown out!! Saving for shock inserts, along with tranny, drive axle, rear diff, seats, strut tower braces and tires. Can you say lottery, poor part time worker part time student with no money!
  13. So what is the issue with running the Tokicos or KYBs'? I have heard that before. The setup with these springs seem really soft. Had the instructor ride with me on one run and he is suggesting to put the 8k in front and the 6k in the rear. When I had the 5k on the front and the 6k on the rear the suspension would bottom out under little to no load. So I got the 8k and put on the rear with the 6k on the front and it only bottoms out on extreme bumps. I am new to all this so any info would help. I know the Cosmoracing is not suppose to be an all out road racing setup. I have never been around anyone setting up a car for road racing. Watched my dad for years tuning drag racing suspensions, with really soft front springs to transfer weight and progressive setup in the rear to let suspension set and hold the transfer. he ran Koni's for years then went to QA-1's with 2 way adjusting. Help novice, poor wanna be autocross driver!
  14. Here is my best run. Got 16 runs for the day. First time out with the Cosmoracing spring set. 6k front and 8k rear. Decided after the event need to switch front to back. Also still running the stock original shock inserts. The bounce and rebound is aweful, thought that the soft stock suspension was ok but man you put the suspension under a hard load and they are shot. This is shot with my Iphone using the otrix case holder that has a built in wide angle lens. I used the vidometer program to get the MPH, G's, altitude and horizon level/tilt.
  15. Great what have you done with the suspension and brakes on your setup?
  16. Did you find a car yet? I am in central Florida and had to go west to get mine. Found in Utah, was bought new by the owner in california one owner car. Shipping was $800 from Utah.
  17. Yeah thats the plan for now,, of course I was planning on getting the turbo and throwing it on for less than $500! Be running turbo in less than 30 days! BLAHHAHAHAHAHA........................ Here I am 3 months later ordering more parts and getting machine work done! Well its my second rodeo and should have known. Now all the electronics better work!
  18. Yeah thats what I was planning. For the turbo build I am removing the head and putting on a freshened up P90 head! I figure I will lift the motor up and remove the oil pan. Either put a turbo oil pan on or drill and tap the one I have.
  19. Ha,,, oil pan on the motor? That will be addressed when I do the install.
  20. Oh yeah,,,, I do have a P90 head. I was thinking of using that. I will get that back out and start working on it. I am going to fly cut it. Do a valve job and check it out thoroughly!
  21. Well when my parents bought the house 10 years ago they garage was closed in and used as an extra bedroom. They had a stud wall with dry wall with heat and a/c. So now I get to park my car in there and work on it!
  22. If I have a block that does not have CHT sender, nor a place to screw this sender into, Where do I put this sender?
  23. Thanks\,been trying to read everthing I can. Never have too much info!
  24. Random shot of the cars in the driveway. Moms G35 coupe, Dads 2dr Tahoe. Cars you can't see... Bro's 300zx N/A, S10 truck with 350 V8, KIA Rio ( gotta have one car with good gas mileage in the family) and a friends Volvo that flew to Europe for a month.
