  1. I did a search and didnt find much in the way of if tall people have issues fitting in 240z's. I only ask this because its a smaller car and i have had some trouble fitting in a few other cars. I'm 6'3/6'4 260lbs, and i've tried fitting into an S2000 and a C3(70-82') Corvette. The S2k was a joke, i could only turn the steering wheel if i kept the pedal to the floor. Otherwise it would bang on my knee. I fit in the corvette, but with its original large steering wheel it was a struggle to get in and out easily. I suppose a smaller steering wheel would have made a big difference. Has anyone found that they have trouble fitting into 240zs?
  2. well here's an idea, start your own thread
  3. I had this discussion with a friend and found it kind of humorous and thought it could do well to stir up some fun discussion since there is a mix of people who have done both swaps. The basic conversation went like this: I'm looking at a Z and am more or less set on the LSx swap(after i flog the L28 for awhile), but of course the VQ30 is an interesting thing to look at since its a modern swap thats still in the "Z" family of cars. On my arguement for why i like the VQ swapped cars: - the engine sounds like what you'd expect from a Z car - good power for the weight - its a lot less common then an LSx/small block - can make more power with mods His arguement against the VQ swapped cars: -LSx makes more power off the bat -more power can be made easier/cheaper - VQ is a "weaker engine" as its changed and put into a variety of cars.(something he didnt seem to catch when i pointed out how the VQ in a way is the japanese LSx. In the way that they can tweak it and use it in a variety of their vehicles. -pointed out the blown up turbo 350zs floating around While as of now i'm certainly not considering a VQ swap over the LSX, but i wonder if several people had these discussions and came to similar/different conclusions.
  4. I did a search and it came up with no results. Just thought i'd ask to see if anyone has done one and had good results? Its dirt cheap LSx and from what i've seen in the trucks, you can still make some pretty good power out of them.
  5. I've never really heard of anyone using N20 on an NA, but do these cars respond well to it?? Or would i be better of trying to find a TT to start with?
  6. Well there still is little to no aftermarket for the 5banger. However, there is one crucial piece of aftermarket that is available. Trick performance offers full turbo kits for the 5cylinder. And Hptuners offers the appropriate software for tuning. I'd love to see a dry sump setup figured out. Oil starvation is somewhat of a problem when people try to autox the trucks. Plus, depending on your car's setup a 3.7 might be more then enough. 242hp/242tq is a pretty decent even in the trucks. The only problem i see is that on the 4.2L 6cyl thread it looked like the oil pan sits way too low. I would imagine the 5cyl would have the same problem.
  7. well i'd think height is the issue. I found later in the 4.2 thread a picture of a 6cyl mocked up in the engine bay: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=131920&page=5
  8. I did a quick search and found that people have discussed the 4.2 trailblazer engine, but not the I5. In trucks people have dipped into 12s with these engines. Plus they have a pretty unique sound. Does anyone think this engine would be able to fit under the stock hood a 240/260z?? whats your opinion??
  9. 2k, because i'd rather save myself the headache and have a shop do it.
  10. Ca hates JDM. 1500 is nice, but the cost of installation/etc. will be atleast another 2k. An inexpensive turbo kit should be able to be fabbed up for less. on a BMW site a guy managed to build a complete setup for 1k$ As for the grammar, noticed that. My mistake.
  11. I always hear about people doing TT engine swaps, but what about picking up an NA and then building a single turbo setup for it?? I'm thinking about buying a Z32 and doing something like that. Maybe try and to the rearmount setup thats been done on several different vehicles. As its probably easier to swap out when smog comes around.
  12. I was thinking T5 for an inexpensive start, but i'm not sure what works best with a 350 and the JTR mounts. I'm sure a T56 would be ideal, but its sorta out for now as the tranny would cost more then what i'm expecting to pay for my Z
  13. Yeah thats really not too awful. My buddy's new project has 10x more. Its a 49' suburban with more rust then paint.
  14. but all of that can be swapped and changed so its not a big deal.
  15. ok well that gives me a little more to go off of. BTW, maybe you know. is the truck 4.8/5.3/6/0 all based on the LSx block? Or do they use a different mounting system?
