  1. I understand... I live in Oakland also... where does your brother live? that must be hard driving 1 hour away just to work on it... I know I was getting frustrated when I had to fix my aunt's van and she lives 30-40 min away from where I lived. It took about a month until I actually finished the car (needed a new motor). I had to drive back and forth from Oakland to Antioch every time I have a day off work or school. Also, I understand about the girlfriend and money situation... I was building my honda and it took awhile until i can gather up the money... Building the motor wasn't that bad, with eagle rods, low comp. pistons, etc... I still manage to bring my girlfriend out to dinner and stuff. but when it came to selecting out the turbos, man i had to go with the cheapest and smallest... My original plan was to use a t3/to4e .57 trim or a super 60. but i ended up with a .42 .48...lol and it isn't fully tuned....
  2. ohh o.k... thanks for the clarity... yeah i want to take it easy first since it's my first Z and my first v8 swap... if i'm not liking the n/a set up i'll probably hook a bottle up or some other type of force induction on the v8... of course a built motor to handle it..... and is your's running now or no? reading your avatar how long has it been down? and sorry for the threadjacking...
  3. if you leave it carb, you still need to get some type of fuel management?
  4. is it worth the swap? i'm seeing alot of guys swapping chevy/gm motors more than the ford motors? and should i leave it carburated or convert it to fi?
  5. maybe that's the easiest way because theres' no way i can see the marking unless i take the camshaft out... i'll borrow my school's dial caliper and measure it on the weekdays..
  6. i'm just wondering if i have an aftermarket cam or not because one of the worksheets in the glove compartment said "non stock cam" and "fix timing". i'm just wondering if it still has the cam or not... i'll check again tomorrow...
  7. o.k.. so today took the valve cover off and checked for any stamps or markings to see if it was an aftermarket cam or not... the markings on the end firewall side had a "A" marking and some small numbers on it not sure what numbers can't tell.. then it says "DEL......." DEL something. can't see it, no room for me to see clearly...
  8. hey i'm trying to do the same setup maybe... my friend has a spare 302 and is selling it to me for cheap... bump this thread for some answers...
  9. wasn't sure which year/model the E88 heads came out of?
  10. i found one of the many service papers in the car today and it says "non stock cam/fix timing"... so i'm like woah... this thing has a cam? so how do i check... the idle don't bounce up and down like muscle cars do... i just want to know if the motor still have the aftermarket cam or not... i'm guessing take out the valve cover and check for stamps at the end?
