  1. I have already changed the jets down to 50 from the 57's that came with the 470 carb, i need to go lower, this i know for sure. Just trying to figure out what everyone has them reduced down to with the 470 carb. Then what discharged nozzle is commonly used for the smaller jets to avoid the tip in sputter. I have a decent understanding of the holley 4 bbl. It is just the fine tuning i am missing, and curious what others have had better luck with. and checking to see how common the 470 cfm in particular is used.
  2. Just curious if anyone else has worked with a 470 cfm holley 4 bbl on an L28. I have searched and read about them on the v8 swaps, but not on an L-series. I am running an F54 block with an E88 head. I currently have the main jets set to 50 and the discharge nozzle set to 31. But it is still running extremely rich on the bottom end, and smooths right out on the top. I am ordering more jets today, but just checking to see if anyone else has gotten in the ball park with this carb. Dave from AZC is the only other car i have seen with the carb, and he has not had his running yet. So lets see who else has done this.
  3. Tapped the crank after finally find a 16 x 1.5 tap. (in south dakota that is not an easy task) i tapped the crank and it all works great. Thanks for the help.
  4. Can anyone point me in the right direction to figure out what size tap i would need for the harmonic balancer bolt? I screwed up the first two threads of the crankshaft and i have no idea what size tap i need. This is on an l28 crank. Sorry if this has been covered, but after an hour of searching i could not find anything.
  5. I used the non turbo f54 block, and used the fel pro head gasket to match. I figured with the .020 shaved head, the nissan motorsports domed pistons, it should be around 10:1. Which that should be nice. I am still using carbs so fuel should not be an issue and i have an L9 cam, so the motor should run decent. I guess i will find out this weekend. Thanks for the help on the head gasket!
  6. Interesting link to some good build info numbers, but still nothing on which head gasket to use. But thanks for trying.
  7. This is not a turbo car. There for the strength of the head gasket it not in question. Just fitment and water passages.
  8. Do you know for sure that the F54 head gasket will work with the e88 head?
  9. I have an e88 head from my 260z and i am trying to put it on an F54 L28 motor. I have seen this has been done many times before, but the one thing that no one can answer, is what head gasket to use. can some one please answer me this, since it the only thing holding me up from get the car put back together. Thank you
  10. SD doesnt not have much for z cars, If you do find one then it usually isnt for sale, or a complete rust bucket. But i will keep an eye out for ya, i am always looking myself.
