  1. Is the check valve part of the fuel pump? because the fuel pump was replaced a few months ago by the previous owner.
  2. Hi all, My car has developed a problem where just about every time I start the car it takes at least 5 or 10 seconds for the car to start. Sometimes it can takes almost 20 seconds. Once the car starts up it runs just fine and doesn't stumble or lose power. The starter is also working fine so my thought is it is either a spark or fuel issue. I friend of mine is having a similar issue with his car and he said his was a fuel pressure regulator. Any other suggestions as to what else it might be?
  3. I had this exact same problem a couple of weeks ago. If cleaning the connections doesn't work the battery itself might be bad. Also make sure all the battery connections are tight, including the connections to the starter.
  4. Looks like the battery was bad, although the positive battery terminal was also bad, which didn't help things either. Thanks for all your help
  5. I tightened and cleaned up some connections and got the car to start and stay running on its own. I tested the alternator and it's running at the proper voltage. Only problem I have now is something is draining the battery now, because if it sits any longer than an hour it needs to be jumped again. Thanks for all your help!
  6. Yes everything worked before I took the car apart. I had a flywheel bolt that was backing out and the clutch master cylinder was leaking, but it was driving. As long as the car's battery is hooked up to my other car, it runs just fine. Once I take off the jumper cables, the car slowly starts to run rougher until it dies.
  7. Hi, I am new to Z ownership after just buying a '77 280Z two months ago. I just finished replacing the clutch, flywheel, and clutch hydraulic system. When I went to start the car after putting everything together, it wouldn't start, so I jumped it and it started right up. As long as it's being charged by another car it will run just fine, but once I unhook it, the car slowly starts choking and then stalls out. I checked the battery terminals and they are fine, so is this an alternator problem? or maybe a fuse box?
