  3. What`s involved with a turbo swap? what will I have to get off the doner car? can I retain most of the engine I currenty have now?Do I have to change intake/computer/header/wiring harness?

Ok here`s what I got: 1980 280zx (coupe)engine -efi n/a Basicly stock.I think the engine is a n42 and the heads are n47.if my memory serves me right.I know this is not the engine most would build,but it`s the 1 I got. Plus this motor only has 57,000 mi. on it(original) I`ve done a few upgrades to the engine.Add a 3 into 2 header,2.5 exhaust .no converter big obx straight thru muffler. I sent the stock injecters out to RC Engineering for a total once over and added cold air induction.Thats about it for the engine. Also did some suspension upgrades, all new urethane bushing kit fr.and rear/lowering springs fr.-rear,tokico shocks and struts.and 16x71/2 all around .fr.-205/45 rear-225/45 With that said if you were me and take in to account (limited funds) what would you do for bolt on power and performance? Can`t spend much more than $2-grand, where heading to the paint booth in the next couple weeks ,that going to put a huge dent in the bank account for sure. Thanks for any input..david ps,I was think cam/head work/bigger TB/maybe gears for the rear.
  5. Hey Sleek Z,That`s pretty cool if you want a cobra knock-off? Nothing wrong with that if thats want you like! So back to my original question? Where can I get a fiberglass cowl hood or or a cowl scoop that I can mold onto a steel hood?Need to come up with something soon,My Z is heading to the paint shop in the next couple months.I think the addition of a cowl hood will finish it off rather nicely..Just no satisfied with the current hood.

  7. Hey Davyz, I assume your`s is not a zx?Damn ZX! I got a awesome ZX,but have a heck of a time getting goodies for it..If I would have done my homework I would have gotten a older Z. More goodies made for the older Z`s.
  8. Hi John, I`m in need of a fiberglass cowl hood for a 1980 280zx. I can purchase thru Showcars ,but I`ve heard so much negitive feeback about their quality and delivery time that I`m quite leery! If you by chance read this,could you send me a reply? thank you,David PS. I`m looking for a cowl heighth of about 2" to 3"

  12. I`M LOOKING TO GET SOME PERFORMANCE WORK DONE ON MY HEAD...WHERE WOULD U SEND YOUR HEAD??????? NEEDS SOME CONTACT INFORMATION ..THERES NO GOOD MACHINE SHOPS IN MY AREA THAT ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE Z-CAR L-6 HEAD...WOULD PREFER TO SEND IT OUT TO A SHOP THAT SPECIALIZES IN PERFORMANCE Z-CARS...DON`T NEED THE VERY BEST -N-MOST EXPENSIVE ,JUST NEED A GOOD RELIABLE SHOP.....
  13. DOES ANYBODY MAKE A SUPERCHARGER KIT FOR THE L-28 THAT BOLTS ON TO THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK AND YOU STILL OBTAIN YOUR ORIGINAL INTAKE AND FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM ??? DON`T WANT THE SET-UP THAT JCR SELLS.. AND OR IS ANYONE RUNNING A 4-BARREL INTAKE AND CARB WITH A AFTERMARKET SUPERCHARGER...THANKS
  14. thanks everyone for your input!!! Len,I hear what your saying, I already have the MSA three into two header. I have the 2 1/2 exhaust with a obx tunable bomb muffler,big 4" tip stick thru the rear skirt,"LOOKS COOL" Don`t know what it sounds like yet...custum designed my own cold air induction,think this will work great!!!I had my injestors sent out and had the works done on them....This should be a big improvement,each injector spraying the same ps. and pattern...SO I LOOKS LIKE A BIGGER TB NEXT....THANKS,KEEP THE SUGGESTIONS COMING....
  15. i`m not sure,I guess as little as possible... would like to get the most bang out of a buck as i can....but to give u a price range would be $1000.00 to $2000.00 had the money saved up for the paint job,and then was going to start putting money back for the motor work when my wife decided she wanted breast inplants,so of course i forked over the money...let say it was well spent,enjoy her new boobs alot!!! but now my car sits in primer and the motor is hang on the stand...so now i`m going to do the motor work first,then paint it later.....
  16. Hi, this is my first thread,been reading alot of your advice..You guy`s are very sharp !!so here`s my question I hope you guys can help..... I would like to gain more performance out of my stock L-28 N/A ...it`s out of a 1980ZX,has only 57,000 original miles...would love to stroke it but, cash flow is tight....was considering to bore it out,use a bigger piston and change the cam and have some work done to the head...I was planning on just for now to use the stock fuel injection for the time being..does this sound feasable,any suggestion please....thanks
