  1. Sure, but is there an online seller that stocks new or refurbished relays of this type? It just seems strange to me that there isn't one, considering that pretty much every other small component for the car is available somewhere online.
  2. I've got one bad relay in my engine compartment relay box. I went Google shopping for a replacement but the only type of relay that any of the online warehouses offered had the wrong prong configuration. I even ordered one, because it was 'guaranteed' to work with my model year, even though the picture showed that it wouldn't (there was a disclaimer that the picture might not accurately depict the part you get, but unfortunately it was a perfect facsimile). Of course when it arrived it wasn't the type I needed. Anyway, I've attached two images. The first is an approximation of the relay type I find on all the warehouse websites, the second is the kind I actually need (except mine has 903 printed instead of 810). Does anyone know where I can buy one?
  3. Well, the engine started dying again. It always starts up cold but if I get to operating temperature I risk just having the engine lose all power during idle. Then I have to crank it several times and pump the gas pedal to get it going. This is pretty much what was happening before my old pump failed. Could there be any other reasons for this besides my fuel pump?
  4. I can get ahold of that great idea thanks. Thanks for your replies, everyone.
  5. Hi I'm kind of new at working on cars so sorry if this question seems dense, but I'm trying to change the fuel pump on my 280zx and I'm having a problem with the wiring. At the place they connect to the pump itself, the wires seem to be stuk on with molded plastic. Its very hard and I can't seem to cut through it. To anyone else who has changed the fuel pump on at 280zx, how do you get around this? Melting them off seems like a terribly bad idea; what about cutting the wires themselves? My new fuel pump came with connectors, so I guess I could just connect them to the cut ends of the wires but that seems, well, wasteful. Any advice?
  6. Very cool, thanks for the info. The title lists the gross weight as 2700lbs, now that I look at it.
  7. Nope, no wiper on the back hatch. Seal and struts on it are new; thats the only thing I noticed. Did the ZXR come with different badging, because mine just says 280ZX?
  8. I've had this car for about a month now. Its a 79, n/a, with a 3-speed auto. Its the first car I've ever owned that has an auto tranmission, and the first without power steering. The exterior is in great condition, and the engine only has ~104k on it. It was kept in a garage in Wyoming for most of its life. Right now the only issue with it is the crunchy front suspension. It still drives alright even a high speeds but I'm babying it right now until I can get the improvements made. I'm also ordering a new gauge culuster because the clock and voltmeter went out. Currently I don't have a lot of practical car knowledge, but I bought this car with the intention of doing a lot of work on it myself. It looks less complicated than my 94 Honda. Its not very fast, but increasing output is not what I'm interested in right now what with my budget and considering gas prices. I really just want to make it able to handle corners with confidance for now. I'll start to consider airflow after that.
