  1. Hey guys I am looking for a drivers side 240z headlight assembly! Not the headlight cone. mine is rusted out badly ...Canadian sellers would be better but if need be I dont mind picking one up from the brothers down south. Wouldn't mind a nice set of 71-72 bumpers chrome or fiber..including the mounts
  2. Hey even I have never driven my Z before!!! I bought everything in pieces ....something like a huge frustrating jigsaw puzzle The Car was refreshed a few years ago...so I am going to start removing the the suspension to see what i need to do! I'm now wondering to see if any of this was done by the previous owner (any tell tales?) also what's the difference between the MSA kits and the energy suspension kits...MSA is $10 cheaper but i have heard great reviews about energy suspension. Does MSA make their own or do they see the energy suspension ones?
  3. Hey maybe you can help me? Im restoring a 73 240z which fortunately or unfortunately has some custom body work adding some skirts which I like and extending the rear end(im not to fond of this). The work looks as if it was done at the factory which had made it a nightmare to find this one piece that bolts onto the chassis along with the under/lower part of the fender. I have one side but missing the other. Was wondering if your dad could fab something like this .I have attacted pictures of the part as well as a side shot of the car.
  4. Thanks guys I think I will get the seats mounted first I have seen a pair of black Ractive seats going for around $280/pr sliders included, what do ya think of the price? the company doesnt make brackets tho. I'm trying my best to avoid welding the mounting brackets in just because I have never done that before...I have worked with sheet metal and very comfortable with that but my past work has never required me to weld anything...apart from fabricating a set to be bolted in place are there any sort of ready made universal type bracket?
  5. Im in the process of a frame up restoration on a '73 240z and I would like some feedback from you knowledgeable folk! The floors were replaced so currently there are no seat bracket installed. Im going to start laying out the sound dampening material and the carpet and wanted to know if I should mount the new seat brackets before laying out the insulation and carpet and if I should mount (with lock nuts and bolts) or weld the new brackets to the floor. I'm in a fix because I want to start putting the interior back but I am not sure on what seats I am putting in as I don't have any. any help would be appreciated
  6. nice thread!! im in Toronto and I am restoring a 240z as well. Right now its bare metal and I have sandblasted, rustproofed and painted the Car...Now I am going to tackle the wiring...I am pretty comfortable with wiring as it is what I do for a living (not automotive tho). I am unsure if I should ring out the present harness and use that or if I should buy those painless pre wired bundles with maybe a 12cct or maybe 18 circuit fuse box as i am thinking of putting keyless entry and alarm, plus you never know what you might add on later. What do you guys think? What are the main problems with the factory wiring? Janaka - I have spare doors (LH & RH), Hoods, Hatches etc!!!! let me know if interested.
  7. Try http://www.snsclassics.com/wiring.html A little cheaper for the harness As for the connectors......not sure if anyone make exact 240z ones but I have seen some of the headlight and taillight replica harnesses for sale on Victoria British as well as MSA. I am not sure on your electrical capabilities but myself I would but a min 12 cct prewired fuse box from the website above and then buy connectors from http://www.weatherpack.com/ better quality.
  8. Thanks guys....now my question is ...... does anyone know what skirt package is installed? If i can but just that part? where?..cause otherwise im going to have to remove it.
  9. I have been scourging the internet for weeks trying to find out what this is called. It basically like a cover that covers the bottom curved parts of the fender. I have attached pictures one is of the part and the other is of the fender and where it attaches. I have the LH side but cant seem to find the RH side after i dismantled the car Sorry for the kink in your neck.... didn't know how to rotate the images
  10. the car has never been wrecked....I just felt like doing a frame of restoration...
  11. Ok here is the scoop I am restoring a '73 240z and the only thing i cannot do and have no clue about is paint. I spoke to a few body shops and i have got a variety of quotes and ideas but I need to find out for myself. I have got the following average prices Enamel: $1,800 Nason Acrylic: $2,500 Dupont Base and Clear 3 Coats: $4,000 What are the differences between the three of them? Why is there such a difference in price. The above prices include interior and exterior paint, rustproofing, primering and undercoating. Are the prices decent? Any input would be appreciated. I am in Toronto, Canada and the prices are in CND Dollars (1 USD = 1 CAD...give or take a cent) Cheers! Also keep in mind I have completely stripped the car down to metal....all the glass is off, the interior and engine bay has been clean't out
  12. I know this has been asked a thousand times and there is even a sticky about it....but does anybody know if there are any seats that are a direct fit into a 1973 240z... I have done numerous searches but havn't found anything concrete.. Also what about 260 and 280 seats??
  13. sorry didn't know who's car it was...just found the pics on google
  14. My 1973 240z is just going in to get sandblasted then primered and painted....and was thinking of putting an aftermarket air dam i have seen tonnes of them and i have no idea what they are called...If someone can tell me the names of the following ones (in the pics also the grill on the last 2 blue one) i would greatly appreciate it. Also any restoration ideas or tips would be appreciated as well Cheers!
