  1. You guys all make valid points. However, ones point is only as valid as one believes or wants it to be. Yes, the title does say salvaged, but like mentioned above, Im going to drive it to the ground amd enjoy it, and to me, thats worth more than 6k. I'm also going to get it appraised and insured for what its worth...we'll see how that goes. I'll keep yall posted
  2. gone through this posting many times. anyone have pics or can get pics of 16x9.5+0 all around on stock bodied s30? of course sitting "proper" and flush.
  3. I have not tried cuz i dont have a magnet that wont scratch the paint..at least ide have to find one
  4. I agree. The previous owner had not let word out about selling it. My coworker, his friend, told me about the car and stated he will post up the car fs online soon, so i should check it out before hand. I did, and made the purchase. Ive looked the car over, inside and out. Though i am no expert on classic vehicles, the rebuild seems to be pretty well put together. I did what you guys osaid. Jacked the car up and with a hammer, tapped the whole under carriage to funny, inconsistant sounds, and it all checked out. The under coat that was peeling off in some of the spots were very thinly sprayed...didnt seem like he was trying to cover any faulty metal work...although i may be wrong. The only thing that sucks about the car is that the stock springs are cut sitting on stock shocks and the ride quality is horrible. The guy did not cut any corners on body work, but he is no mechanic amd there could be a couple areas of improvements mechanically. Over all im happy and would like to think i made a good decision to buy it. I will update yall with pics. Thnx for all the inputs
  5. Bravo! Well said. ^^ ...and that is exactly what I will be doing...not waffling, but purchasing:) Thanks everyone for their honest inputs. I am currently working on a deal w the seller and soon if all goes well, I'll be driving this beauty home!
  6. ^^ so does that mean the title, regardless of type, will impact the value of the car more or less?
  7. The maintenance and repair part of it is not a problem. Im a grease monkey every now and then. Insurance, i have not thought about. You guys bring up a very good point. Ill have to give my agent a call...or should i call hagerty...idk lol
  8. I just plan to drive it. I dont plan to mod it anytime soon....no hooning around for me...too old for that:) I like it because it is a turn key z. I drove it on and off the freeway and it drives straight and pulls quite nice...the 2.4 feels like a truck:). From what I was able to see when I peeked under the car is that it has been sprayed with that black stuff...kind of like bed liner spray. There were some impact spots from speed bumps and such, im assuming, that had some lining cracked off and was white underneath. Yeah, I'm not a fan of the two tone interior either. All black would have been better. So again, I only plan to drive it on sunny days. No mods as of yet. Maybe drive it for as long as possible the way it sits. I feel that it needs nothing and looks and drives just fine for what it is. ...although an RB or SR would be nice...jk. I feel that the brakes can use some work. He states the brakes are performing at 70%. I feel that the brakes are performing at 50%-. I have to litterally hit the brakes firmly and very early to stop. My uncle has restored a one Z so I will have to consult with him as well and find an unbiased party to check it out as well. Resale is always on my mind if the price is right, but I'm far from it at the moment. Thanks for the inputs!!
  9. the car looks exactly the way it does in the pics. nice and clean, no dents or dings. I was telling myself that if the car looks exactly the way it looks in the photos, then i was going to buy it, but then I find out that its salvaged. I was thinking the z was just a photo queen with her photogenic appearances...wrong! She looks like her pics, thats for sure The chin spoiler does have a couple of small 05"-1" repaired cracks. Passenger door seems to not close flush. Sticks out maybe a centimeter or so...you can kind of make it out in the pics. Driver door closes maybe a mmm or two in and doesnt come out flush with the quarter panel. He states its an old car and nothing is perfect...??

    resto z

  11. i failed to mention that the back half of the z is still a flat orange paint job (corvette orange). He still needs to clear coat and finish it. He says if his asking price of 6.5k is meet, he'll finish it.
  12. Wow. A wealth of knowledge and information thats got me thinking all day and night. Thank you guys for your honest opinions. I seriously think im going to pull the trigger on this. There were a lot of good points that made me think. I plan to keep the car for a long time, although every vehicle ive purchased and modified is an investment and the return appreciation, if any, is always in the back of my mind. With that being said, coilovers and an rb or sr would look sweet under the hood, although i would drive this z for as long as possible the way it sits, because i appreciate things for what they are...in this case, a very stock z. I personally think this car could be a 10k$+- car. The seller seems to be a passionate z owner, however that could be a front.... Got some pics...checkm out guys
