  1. Thanks for the help. I already have coilovers so I think I am going to be okay with the +10 offset.
  2. I want to get 16x8 wheels but I do not know what offset I need. I think I need +0mm of +10mm but I am not sure. I want to run 225/50-16 tires. What offset would I need If I went with 15x8 instead? Thank You
  3. October 28, 2008 - Got my new spark plug wires today and installed them. Cleaned all engine bay plugs and drained the old gas. Cleaned up interior wiring harness. Found 2 vaccum leaks but havent fixed yet. Installed the right AFM.
  4. October 27, 2008 - Got my new spark plugs today and ordered new spark plug wires. Checked the cap & rotor and everything looked good. Worked on cleaning up the engine bay wiring harness and tried to reconnect some of the wires that I knew. There is still a lot of loose ends. Also I started making a to do list and a list of things I need.
  5. October 26, 2008 - Removed spark plugs, cleaned them and then gapped them. Found that the spark plug wires were not on the correct cylinders so I corrected that. Then adjusted the timing. I also removed an exhaust cut-out that instead of re-routing the exhaust it actually cut it off. It started right up. It runs on its own but has a little hesitation when you first give it some gas (bad plugs or bad gas maybe). I also drove it for the first time today and it seems to be alright except for the hesitation. I will be getting my new plugs tomorrow.
  6. October 25, 2008 - Installed the charged battery. Got it started but it wont run for more than 30 seconds. Did a compression test and everything seems to be good.
  7. October 22, 2008 - Hauled the Z to the shop. Removed the battery and charged it.
  8. October 14, 2008 - Bought a 1977 Datsun 280z. Here are some pictures of what it looks like.
  9. Well I found that normal compression is 164 - 178. Also I put new plugs in it but heres the thing...I found that the spark plug wire were on the incorrect cylinders so my firing order was way off. Also somebody put an exhaust cutout on but instead of letting the exhaust cutout of the system it actually was more like an exhaust shut off. It blocked all flow off the header. This was closed when I found it. I corrected the firing order, put new plugs in, and removed the cutout and it fired right up. Now it hesitates a little when you first give it gas both when in neutral and driving down the road. I have checked for vaccum leaks and couldnt find any. Does anybody have anyother suggestions? It has a manual transmission if that helps.
  10. Thanks for the suggestions. I know that hybridz.org is a good one but I cant always take my computer with me so its nice to have a hard copy of information that I might need. Again thanks
  11. I have checked the compression, fuel, and spark and all seem do be functioning properly. I am getting to plugs today to see if that makes a difference. The plugs I took out were no good so that might be the problem. As for timing were is a good place to start?
  12. I just bought a 1977 280z and I have a few books (How To Restore Your Datsun Z-Car, How To Hotrod & Race Your Datsun, How To Modify Your Nissan & Datsun OHC Engine, Chilton Nissan Z & ZX 1970-88 Repair Manual) and I was wondering what other books are good to have around or might be handy. Thanks
  13. Thanks. I might be interested in some parts but I will need to find out what im missing first. I know im missing a lot of knobs/switches (example: hood release knob) for all the dash componets. Do you have this stuff?

  19. thanks...i think ill go ahead and get them then. im looking to restore. ive wanted to build a classic import for a couple of years and after keeping my options open ive decided to go with a z. i sold my 2003 wrx (daily driver) to fund this project so i cant wait to get started.
  20. My nephew said he would sell me his 1974 260z and 1978 280z for $600. The 260z has no rust and a complete interior that is in decent condition but its not in the car. The motor and transmission out of the 280z is in the 260z. The 280z is mostly for parts but restorable. He also has a posi 3.73 rearend but he wants extra for it. I am wanting to build an L28ET so is this a must have or is it going to have no benefit? If it will benefit the car how much is it worth? So i guess im asking is this a good deal?
