  1. Thanks i look for it! I also got ahold of a friend who paints for a living and he suggested a red scotch brite pad with lacquer thinner to get stubborn rust out of small scratches. Anyone ever try this?
  2. Hi all, Well i pulled the old 240 out a couple of weeks ago after not working on it since March of 2009 and got the thing fired up. I was planning on just selling it, but after replacing the front wheel studs and throwing on the set of Rota's i bought a while back i am infected again with the Z virus and back to finishing the thing... so here is the question i have for you all, when i put her away she was mostly down to bare metal. Being in New Mexico, we have no humidity so rust doesnt occur as it does elsewhere but a few spots of surface rust did appear. I have thoroughly resanded the areas but i can't seem to get it out of some of the scratches that were left behind from when i removed all the paint. I was wondering if there was some sort of wipe i could use to prep the areas or if i need to get out a angle grinder with a flap disk and potentially maul the metal. It really is tiny if not microscopic spots, but I dont want all the work i have behind me (and in front of me) to be for nothing. thanks for the help and i will post some picks in a little bit. thanks again!
  3. i am constantly unsure on my projects...i have a '62 continental sitting in my drive i bought in '03... it still sits and i move it areound. As it stands my 240z was my mothers car that my grandmother co-signed for in '72 my dad took it from her when they got divorced in '84 so she could have the station wagon he drove it till '91 parked it and always said he would get around to building it up...five or six years ago he called me up and told me to take it i immediatly started to go to work on it then it became too much work. i covered it up in the garage and ignored for a couple of years then I parked it on my father in laws property under a cover under a carport for the last year. When he called me and said to come get it off his land i reluctantly did but now that i have it home the z addiction is going full blown. Keep the car. Eventually you will get around to it, if not give it to a son or nephew for a project of their own... or just sell it to one of us :)im sure we will find space for one more car in the driveway.
  4. Soryy if this has been adressed before I have been searcing through the forum for a couple of days now and cannot fin what I am looking for. I want to flair the fenders on my '72 and I am thinking of the MSA flaris without the fasteners showing. MSA states that they are the same size as the ZG so what I need to know is what wheel/tire combo will fill them out. I really like the look of the rota's, Konig rewinds, and panasport style wheels. The price on the Konig rewinds that MSA offers is tempting, and the group buy set up through Rota seems pretty sweet too. I have no idea what to purchase and I dont want to buy 2 sets of wheels because they just dont look right with the flairs. Additional info on my car that may be helpful to anyone with Sage advice is. It sits on Eibach springs from MSA with tokico struts in the original housings. I have the original drums on the back and original disks on the front. Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance!
