I welded a 2 1/2 deep box so most of the B&M shifter is under the console, i shaved the corner of the chrome cover plate so it sat flat on the console. I can take a pic tomorrow if you want to see it.

Thank you NewZed that sounds like my gremlin.,

its been good for 2 years, this is the secound motor in this car.Im hoping to find out what the problem is, if for no other reason then to know what broke. I'll most likly wire it to come on with my primary fan.

I tried the search and didnt find anything helpful. this a 78 280Z, SBC , carburated.. I used the stock wire to run a holley fuel pump. Got home turned the car off and the fuel pump stayed on. I have it down to this, if I unhook the charge wire from the alternator the pump turns off ( all other wires are unhooked from the alternator ), if I hook the charge wire straight to the battery the pump come on.
any ideas ?

Went back too the track ( 1/8th mile ), she was running slow, i guess it was just too hot ( 88 and humid ).
I made 5 passes, the best of witch was 8.1 at 88 mph. the last run was my slowest, but it was good enough to beat a shelby cobra (mustang)

this is a dash I made for my TransAm, may have some helpful ideas for you. I like what your doing so far

you could drill a 3/8 hole and then use a round file.

I dont mind adding another switch since I have the fuel pump on one. But I would rather not have two switches and just one would be great. Any recomendations on how to install the relay and sizes? New to relays so just wondering.
Edit: Nevermind, Pops got home and taught me. Will be trying it out tommorow. After reading other sites it should work so I will get back with hopefully some good news.
use a bosch relay and use the factory key on to trip the relay that way there is no switch.

I did some carb tuning and got 2 tenths faster. I think tires are the next up grade, so what works on Z cars ( stock wheel openings )
-
the motor is a REAL HEALTHY 383 with a th350 trans and 2500 stall converter. I still need to do some carb tuning and get some sticky tires. My youngest son was doing the video, that motor was his first engine assembly (I watched him closely)

sorry about the camera control, my son was runing the video.

cut the flowmaster open and made a glasspack out of it, I filled it with rockwool. droning was cut at least 75% and noticable increace in power over 4000 rpm's. I'm going to make a 5 1/2" wide version of the muffler with dual 2 1/4" inlets and a single 4" outlet, then change from exaust from a 3" to dual 2 1/4".

the manifold is a RPM air gap and I had to use a 3/8" carb spacer so the back float bowl would clear the vac port, that put the top of the choke is 3/4" from the hood.
-
I'm going to paint it black satin and lower it a 1/2" more. my Q is would you put engine size, chevy bowtie or leave it plain. new manifold was too tall, no carb room.
-
thanks for the info, I'm ready to try about anything right now.
-
just finished a 383 for my 78 280Z, 2 1/4" pipe's in to a 3" moroso spiral flow muffler ending with a flowmaster 44. I don't think the outside sound could be better, droning inside is bad. My Q is has anyone had luck with dynamate for droning problems.

Made??
I was going to raise the rear mounting for a better drive shaft angle, and found the old rubber was trashed, I had some bushings for 70's chevy truck cab, I cut the sleeve out of the old bushing, then ajusted the bushing size to fit the sleeve and stock mount for the new diff height. It only took about 2 hours start to finish.
-
I made urethane bushings today, it seems to drive fine. I'm sure this has been done, has anyone had a bad out come with urethane, I left the stock rubber against the body.
