  1. I've been thinking the past few days about what seats I want to put in my 240Z. So far I really like the corbeau baja ss seats. I REALLY like the look of these seats and their very comfortable. I looked at the dimesions and it looks like a tight fit, about 1inch on each side for the center consle to the door panel. I was just wondering if any of you guys have used these seats before? (did a search a found nothing on them) Also what is the largest seats that anyone has placed in a 240? please help... checkout the baja seats... http://corbeau.com/products/baja/baja.shtml# I'm also considering the classicsII, check them out also...
  2. By not working, you mean the needle is'nt moving, or is it jumping around like crazy? Also is this a performance tach? if it's the original try soldering a resistor to it, I dont remember what amount, but I do remember that bryan little talked about it more in depth on his website http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001. Hopfully you didn't hook up the tach directly to coil, the high voltage would usally fry the tach...goodluck

  4. I don't think the exhaust manifold bolts are as prone to breakage as the studs. I took mine out without any problems. I just sprayed WD40 on the bolts and then took them off.
  5. Im replacing the exhaust mandifold on my 240z, I removed all of the bolts, nuts and now I need to remove the studs. I did a search on this but all I got was horror stories of studs snaping off and 4 hours of drilling them out. So I'm here once again, asking for advice form you guys about removing the studs. P.S. I cant do the torch trick or welding trick to remove them, dont have the equipment to do that. Thanks

  7. I know this maybe a simple question but I could not find any answers to the install of the MSA gasket. Is there any prep work before the install, other than using a gasket scraper to clean the surface? Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm new to working on Z's and cars altogether. Another thing I would like to ask is about SU rebuilds. I have to rebuild the SU's on my 240Z, but I was wondering if this is a too difficult thing to do. Also what should I use to clean off all the build up on the carb? I read on another site that the carbs could be dipped in gasoline, but I'm really doubtful about this... any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you
  8. I need some advice for what type of carbs set-up I should use for my Z. I have a stock 72 Z with the L24. In the future I plan to use forged pistons, electronic ingnigtion, 2 1/2 exsust, good cam(nothing wild), possibly enlarge the intake and exhust values for more performance. At the end I hope to get something like 1,000 hp, just kidding... somewhere over 200hp. I have everything figure out in terms of what I want for my car, with the exception of the carbs, and which would be the biggest bang for the buck. I'm only 18 and obiously at my age on a tight budget (lol who isint at that age) well Im disputing between three type of setups. SU's, triple webers, and four barrel holley carb. I was wondering if it is possible to get the same or more performce out a single large holley carb instead of three webbers. Plz help me and give what advice you have for me. Thank You. Allen

  10. I was planning to install a rb26dett in my 72 z someday, but I was wondering if it is possible to get 500hp out of a rb26 with pump gas 92 octane? I was also thinking of going for a v8 twin turbo coversion, Which of the conversions would you guys/gals recommend?
  11. Is a R200 diff with the gear ratios of 3:9:1 the same as the R200 with the ratio of 3.90? I really need to know. Please help me as soon a possible.
  12. Well, what I see is smoke coming out of my car when I raise the rpms to about 5,000 rpms. All I want is my car to run cleaner so I won't smell like smog right after driving my car. Thanks for the help.
  13. Does anyone have an idea to solve a smog problem? I just had my 240Z 72' get a major tune up at the Nissan dealer, and after that I could still visably see smog come out my exhust pipe? My car has 46,000 rebuilt, so I don't think the engine needs to be rebuilt. Is it the brand of gas I'm using (Cevron supreme)? Or is it somthing else? Please help.

  15. Does anyone know were i can buy a windshiled wiper motor for a 240z? I took my car to the nissan dealer, but they said that the part is no longer avaliable? Can I fit a motor from another car?

  19. Please help me. I have a 72 Z with the standard L24 motor. Every time after drive for a while, parking and turning it off, the motor begins to jump or ping as if it wants to run. Is this normal, how can i fix this problem? I also notice a problem with my rpm gauge, ONLY on really hot days my rpm guage goes wierd, when i run the motor the gauge reads redline and then 1000 rpms and back to redline and never reads the REAL rpms. Please help.

  21. Help me ! I just discovered a spot of rust. Its small but it ate all the way through the metal ( located on the lower passanger side). what can I do to get rid of this problem, and how much would it cost? ( i can only spend about $600)
