  1. I wonder how hugo is doing?, since I haven't heard anything new, since about May. All I can say is about my project is I got all of the parts I need to get it back on the road, then from there the real work can begin. Custom one off interior and a one off motor that can only be made via a l28E.... would be nice to small block my car, but I just can't find it in my heart to not make this car nissandatsunnismo powered some how.. I am sorry I just find it funny when that guy has a big old 572 power truck, vet, or.. hotrod and you kick his ass right from the light with a V6 like the GNX's there is nothing funnier no matter how much work you have done to the motor, and drive train.

Mull, I hope you are doing well, and everythign is going fine... hope you can/got a whole bunch of snowbaording in, I know I barly could what with college and lack of good snowboarding weather in Southern Ontario..

    Cheers!!!

  2. Huddinge kustoms lost the one and only key to their car-transporter. Waiting for them to get the data box coded to match the new key. Always something that gets in the way :-r

The valve/timing belt covers and intake aren't compatible with the powder coating company either. Yey. They claim there's silicone/pollutant in the aluminium that keeps re-appearing when they put the parts in a heated environment (such as when curing the painted parts in an oven). Guess I'll have to go a different route.

Best way I find to get rid of any pollutant before paint is buying some paint prep which will just about remove skin be care full with that stuff or $12.95 CDN of break cleaner that should get rid of it but it not as potent or fast as the paint prep... when we had a bad spray on my car the first time I had to wash down my entire hood and front fenders with the stuff brought it straight to the primer...paint prep comes in 1 gal or 4 liter paint cans.. and costs alot more...

  3. Here is mine in flat black, not sure if it qualifies as a rat rod though.

    pic9.jpg

say it once, say it again a rat rod to me isn't decided on how nice the paint is, or pretty the car is, in fact it just a word so ratty rods had there own class but you get "down to brass" so to speak a rat rod is a hot rod now matter how shitty it looks. Rat rod means, rust and fading paint primer or fiber glass that is visible... To me your car is bad A*$ hot rod.... and if the original poster is around would really think about making this a hot rod/ rat rod area...because there is some confusion, but we get along and have different looks..

but one thing I like about the z cars, is it can be any class of car.

Muscle *** i say this for those that go for the raised white letters and rumbling American motor in there car... But this could also be dragster style but to me Muscle is Dragster no matter how close to a classic it gets.

Classic or Classy ** a action block lookstyle, meaning original parts, type of paint...etc (wire wheel hub caps) with power antenna. eg: Fully stock LincolnCadillac with nice interior.

Tuner ( we all know this look for sure :)!! body kit custom fiber glass with rounded and cool looking air dam, tuner wheels, fart can and spoiler, and jap motor. *no effence* I do like the look of an RB26 in a Z it just seem fitting to have that motor in there nicest looking car *no effence to the gtr guys either another legendary car*

Sports Car ** looks fast, sounds fast, like an old porche or going for the GT6 or TR6 look, what datsunnissan brought it to fight and race against.

Hot rod ** follows the life style of a hot rod, and usually does not have original motor. and nice looking paint.

Rat rod similar to hot rod but doesn't have nice paint body job...

... to me these are descriptions of what z's can be and I like all of the style that this car can be. Thats why I like so much.. and am having a hard time desiding what I want to do. If you had to ask, I would like to combinded the hot rod look because of the lifestyle and people i hangout with. and tuner performance.. either with an RB26 or with the stock block to show people out there that you don't have to dropin a different motor to get a decent fast car i'm not saying to make an L28 run as good as a gtr or V8 but somthing respectiable in the 10 to mid 9 and or lower in the 1/4 mile if possible. I think i will require some one off/ custom parts to do this

  4. Oh I readed your post, did you read mine? Koni doesn't have anything on there website for my year of car! You see some of us go about modding the original engine. *cough cough* Derek! and his awesome air intake set up! Others go about fitting M/T E streets in are cars with Chevy A American motor they like <-- (my kind of people) but I bet there is a crowd on here that's modding the original engine, example turbo, custom headers. That would like performance suspension to help them grip a bit in the corners just a bit better, and for it to bolt right in to there car.

If you care to argue against this send me a PM, email, etc.. keep it off the forums, others and mull I am sure don't want to here people complaining or arguing .

  5. Funny. I sell a "bolt-in" kit with Tokico or Koni shocks, Hypercoil springs, and camber plates. I sell a few each year, mostly to racers who've won in VARA, SCCA, and NASA. How many do you want? :-)

Do I have to hi-lite more, I don't want tokico spring:( **Shakeshead**.... However, you sell a "bolt in" kit for 1979-83 280ZX springs from koni....OK? Why can't I find anything on the Koni website??:hs: Do you have that in 1inch - 3inch drop, are they fully adjustable ride height? I have seen to many cars with with there tires looking like this/ / yeah to much camber for the road if you ask me, and the go through so many tires **Shakeshead** Please do not say weld them in!!!! If you say weld them in I go back to where I said "bolt in!"

Once again, if there are any companies out there licensing, remember not everyone drives a 240z, 260z,280z, ,300z, 350z

    280ZX the forgotten Z----------------------------------------------------------------------------------^

  6. Uh, regardless whether those companies would make coilovers for our cars, you would still have to weld them in i.e. not bolt on.

ground control makes some decent one.

    Well anyways~

mull, what's you plans for the car for the next couple of months?

....Look, if I am welding in springs in my car it isn't going to have standard tires on the back :) Or the standard motor, like I said in my last post

"When will they realize that some datsun owners don't want crappy tokico springs in there cars :-( they want HKS, Tein, or HP and to bolt in!"

i am not trying to be angery, nore do I think you where insulting me just thought I would hi-lite somethings, yup think that about sums it up.. So... my question and what he said!

  7. What sort of head/block/displacement combo are you running for your engine again? I can't recall.. What about spark? What are you doing for that with your megasquirt?

Honestly, the stock L28E had 170 flywheel horsepower, and that was with a restrictive intake manifold and an archaic fuel system. Don't overlook the "real" modifications already made to your car; internal work and a hottter cam would certainly help, but you have begun at the end.

Remember, your Horns are Magical, so they just might manage to make 450 horsepower as a bolt-on to your otherwise stock motor....

    Daeron,

Hotter Cam? L28 blocks have adjustable cams? with 3 adjustments...

1: for brand new, to me better acceleration! but higher shift points like 5500 rpm, or "peak power!" when I can feel the car is not going any faster!

2: to tighten up the chain, when wearing kicks in, to me more torque , with lower rpm shift point 4500 rpm or "peak power!" when I can feel the car is not going any faster!

3:..... I am scared, because in the 1979 ZX shop Manuel nothing is written about 3 only 1 and 2, It only realizes that 3 is there with no description. I can only assume "BOB SHARP" other then that I am scared my poor little Z, just can not handle it and could possibly Blow!

I can only assume 2 is the mid point between the 3 but other then that I have no idea what 3 does... I like 2 the idea of 2 because I am not spinning my motor as high to get the same speed that I would at 1 :)

sorry if i sound like a jack ass at the top, but i am sure all or most L28's have the same cam I do

  8. Derek They look damn good and have a classic bad ass feel look as well:2thumbs:

I have thought about ordering a set, if you where up for taking orders but I still haven't decided if I am modifying the stock block to see if I can get descent power, or swapping it out for something more powerful. Or doing something like you are just make it look damn good!

  9. Well I do say "rat rod" because when i got mine with rust in the floors and the battery box... GONE. frame rails need to be chopped and re-caped and me and my dad custom built the caps made are self's, but really why I classify mine as a "rat rod hot rod" after what happened to it in "September 2007" here is it is right after what happened and with an after pic as well I will show you the step I took to fix it up!

    BEFORE!

    attachment.php?attachmentid=12328&stc=1&d=1235351684attachment.php?attachmentid=12325&stc=1&d=1235351532

    After!

    attachment.php?attachmentid=12326&stc=1&d=1235351532attachment.php?attachmentid=12327&stc=1&d=1235351616

To me this is my "Rat rod hot rod" That has been through hell and back!

I'm look forward to posting the project soon!

  10. No love this weekend. Another car had priority. Front end will have to wait a little bit longer, which is a good thing since I have yet to summon a set of adjustable coilovers for the installation...

awww that sucks I was hope'in it would have been installed, feel your pain mull :( hope you have good luck finding coilovers...wait let me see if I can find any thing on the web.......(beep beep beep... error 404... #loading# beep *BUZZZ*..... DING!!!:icon15:)

Here is a company thats got a set. check out http://www.optionimports.co/meracoki8924.html.. webs site looks :puke:... but the company name is there, thats all you really need to browse for a good price, if you can find a retailer that might carry them or you can possibly order a set! if you read the decriptions it says "adjustable!"... look like they got some other stuff here to..

When and if your looking for a good racing clutch mull. I would say, try finding someone that sells Centerforce clutchs if possible.. My dads stock car team used them, when they where racing, good clutchs! I am going to be putting one in my car :icon14: The one in his Chev S10, has lasted him 10 years, still going.. and his truck is on it second body job what with the salt and all in Canada!

  11. Well clarify a little when you state that. It sounded like you were directing that comment at mull.

I will say that my comment about rushing this wasn't directed at you. It was just for those who are impatient to see mull's car finished.

Like the last vid stated RED ALERT! NEED Z fix people who want a z fix go out to the garage and work on yours or buy one! They shouldn't be demanding video.

Ps. Mull hope your front end dreams come true. I got mine fingers cross for yeah to try and help! Since I am all the way in Canada >.<

  12. I merely stated a good way to create oil pressure on an L motor without it running only as a suggestion to others.

I clearly stated the benefits of a shim and bucket valve train (since that is what an RB motor has). I stated the type of oil pump an RB has and I NEVER suggested he rush any portion of the project and I never got excited about it either.

    WTF:sour:

Agree all you want, but the fact remains. I never suggested he rush anything.

lol thats why I agreed with you, stating he should not rush AT ALL!! so why you are angery I don't know? sry if I upset you :(

  13. If me keeping my fingers crossed will help make the front end transplant come true this weekend - there will be shortly.

Engine build is waiting for some gaskets and stuff to be delivered.

WOot Front end!.. I can't wait to see those pics I would presume that Huddinge Kustoms will be doing most of the fab work? It will be Great to see a soild rolling chaise, then the really work begins.. don't suppose your thinking of putting a roof back in to? My opinon is metal roof :icon14:... but then again this an't my car, altough arrow dynamics are always a nice thing to have :)

  14. you know browsing Google and most of the web i have been looking for a 280zx, 80's z with a gt-r motor in it and all I seem to usually would get is 240 some 510's and 300zx, but dude this car looks sick and now I know how the motor roughly fits, thank you for posting these picture's! That car looks great and the club car show, seem like everyone gets along, and is having a great time. Glad to see some one finally do build like this, instead of a standard 350 chev swap.. Do a burnout if and when you can, have a good one. cheers!

  15. That is so awesome!.. So are you taking orders?

and another thing....Now I know you got your heart set out on the separate fuel lines, but what you might want to use for a fuel supply across the injectors is custom fuel rail. It can be easy to make and it's simple. With that many fuel lines you can put a possibility of it leaking almost anywhere... With a fuel rail it just fuel in one end and the return on the other, and running only 2 lines.

use the pictures below for examples...

    fuel-rail.jpggas_mpfi_multiple.jpgfuel_rail.jpg

I know it can look boxy, but it would easier then running six separate fuel lines and it removes some of the possibilities of leaks and it is a lot simpler. For those that don't know what a fuel rail is, and how it works. wiki it!
