[Hose size]

I got the hose on today and all the manifolds back on the engine. Thanks for the help.

What is the diameter or better yet, the hose size for the oil inlet on the stock L28ET oil pan? I don't really need the hose length, I already know that.

 

I would like to know because I'm traveling to work on my car tomorrow and I need that part before I can put the manifolds back on. I would go out and measure myself, but I'm 100 miles away from the car right now. I would like to buy the hose before I head down.

[Bolt size help]

I finally got around to putting in the turbo engine I bought for my ZX. My problems lies in I do not have the bolts that hold the engine mounting brackets to the engine mount insulators. The body shop pulled the old engine and didn't bother saving those blots. That shop is now out of business and I do not have the proper hardware to secure this engine anymore. I found some bolts that threaded in around the garage, but they are far too weak to use.

 

I was wondering if anybody could measure the proper bolt size and grade for a 280ZX. I'm not talking about the four bolts that hold the bracket to the block; it's the four bolts that hold the bracket to the mount on the crossmember.

I have the original G-tech. It's pretty fun and accurate. I've found the HP function just too hard to work. I don't know the exacts weights of any of my cars either, so that doesn't help. It's a good too to see how well modifications affected your car. Even if it wasn't accurate, you are at least using the same method of gathering data so it's valid. Be sure the surface out are testing on is perfectly flat too.

I wasn't expecting the connectors to be on it on anyhting like that. I've done much research on it and was just verifying if there's anything I might be leaving out or forgetting before I order. I have a 240SX TPS, I'm using all the Datsun sensors excet IAT which is going to be GM. I already have an O2 sensor as well.

 

Is the relay board very helpful? I've heard both sides and cannot get a clear answer.

I finally decided I'm going to do MS over SDS. Since I'm going fuel only, they seem about the same amount of work to install and MS is cheaper. I want the MS unit prebuilt and would also like a built harness.

[Daily Driver suspension set up]

KYB makes some decent replacements that aren't too expensive. The ride with them will be very close to stock which is a plus in a daily driver.

I have the MSD 6BTM. I haven't installed it yet but I have looked in the manual. There is no mention of disconnecting the vaccum, but the manual is not specific to the 6BTM, it covers all the 6 series MSD products. I'm sure there are some on here that have actual experience with this and can help you.

The time has come for me to purchase my SDS. I saw that Drax240 is a dealer so I PM'ed him but haven't received information in almost two weeks. If I cannot get the SDS soon, my project is going to have to come to a stop which I don't want.

Mine have been ditched and in place of them the head has been tapped and it uses bolts. The only studs left are the two end studs that suport the exhaust manifold.

well damn see if I knew THAT... was hoping someone with an original owners manual would pitch in. Well whatever I already told him 89, but at least I don't have to be worried for him if he decides to cheap out and go 87

The original owner's manual is going to list it using the RON scale. I remember reading on jeffp's site that he used 87 octane when he was stock.

excelent post!!. i think you should invest in a 3" mandrel bent exhaust, IMHO thats where oyur restriction lies. my 3" exhust just dumps near the differential. at 8psi with a Gtech i got 200hp. not as accurate as a dyno but it might show somthing

That seems pretty close. I've seen dyno graphs showing 180 RWHP at stock boost with a 3" exhaust on a stock motor.

Keep it. My car was worse than that when I got it. I get so much respect from everyone who saw the car before I took care of all the rust and made it pretty. I sent pictures of it painted to the previous owner just to rub it in. It's satisfying knowing you saved a car.

All I can tell you is your setup will need to be able to run close to a 13 flat. The E46 M3 does the quarter in 13.2 consistenly with the stock record being 12.7. The 2001-02 M Roadster has the S54 engine in it which is the same as the E46 M3's just rated with slightly less horsepower because of exhaust. The 1991 NSX is slower the the former, but is still a low 14 to high 13 second car.

Many people run this intake. If I had one, I would. I have something pretty close to the N42 because my webbing has been plasma cut and the EGR removed and welded as well. It just doesn't look a nice though.

I have a set of 8.5mm for my L28ET. They fit fine except one wire is a bit long, but they look awesome. They are still new because I don't have the turbo motor in the car yet, so I cannot give you any performance opinions. I didn't buy them, they came with the engine I when I bought it.

[280ZX with 8 inch width wheels?]

The offset of the wheel is key. I have 16X7" in 0mm offset and I'm fairly sure there would be enough room for 8" in the back, in not sure about the front. If you spaced them out from the spring, they would almost surely fit.
