  1. As I am looking to upgrade my radio in the '76 Z car, I would like to take a look at what you all did for a radio.

Ideally, I would like to get an OEM radio (subtle plug if you have one) and upgrade the speakers, or go as far as a small 3" boat radio option in the dash.

Regardless, post up what you have for both head units and speakers!!

Are your doors seals the clip in ones or just glue in? And thanks for the kind words, can't wait to be done!

Glue in type.  They made my doors push out more than I liked.  Honestly, if you want them, shoot me money for shipping and I will send them your way.  Maybe you could use them.  send me a pm if you are interested.

I relocated my battery behind the passenger seat! I probably will need to move it now that I have a cage installed, I haven;t gotten there yet but I wanted to look at cutting out the inside of one of the storage bins behind the seats and building a  battery box in that! I've seen it done and it ends up being pretty clean.

Also, If you don;t plan on heavy duty racing I'd look at the Toyota 4x4 brake swap. Forgive me if you've already done that and I didn't see it in the thread!

That is the best GNose I've seen I think. I don;t like them usually but I like yours ha.

    Thank you!  Great looking project!

Also, I have Z car source Black Headliner and 280Z Door Seals I wanna sell on the cheap.  Why cant I post there?

  6. Been a while.  I had to pull the car from the painter / body guy.   Car turned out really bad.  Like embarrassingly bad and even got scammed 2k in the process.

Anyways, got the car back along with all of the parts and had my good friend Chumpot take care of all the glass work.

Recently dropped it at the painter, west coast jones, in Rancho.

Oh, and started building an engine test stand.

  7. Little update to the build.

Its at paint (RM_Collision on IG) currently getting the 904 Kilimanjaro White. Should look pretty neat with the flares and wheels.

On a side note, anyone have any recommendations on where to get a windshield?

  8. Currently overseas with my day job, but a couple friends ended up hauling the z car to the painters place for final body work and paint.

Also, ended up finding an arita speed front lower spoiler and OEM G-Nose hood hinges here in Japan.

  9. Did up a removable bash bar for the G nose and fit the lower half of the G nose to the bash bar.  The corner lamp mounts were pretty far off so the light mounts were cut out, then fiber glass was layed over the tubing that was masked and further trimmed to fit the bar once curing started to take place.

The wheels, seat and mock up dash was fitted and pushed down the street for some motivational progress shots.

The roll cage is put on pause until I figure out what would look functional while keeping it from looking like a jungle gym.

  10. How many people have used a degree wheel on these L6 engines?

I have found the only way to really ensure accuracy on the cam is to go off the valve retainer, preloading the dial indicator and recording the readings on the intake and exhaust opening and closing at .050.  The online calculators will then help you walk one into the required centerlines from the cam card comparing cam lobes in relation to the crankshaft.

This is the only way I have found to work due to the lobe profiles on the camshaft being different.

Has anyone else found a better way?

  11. There are a few more versions out now. Still working with noguilt on IG with the branding placement and possibly throw around a few more color schemes. He is super talented.

Also shot a coat of etch fill primer on the car over the weekend and found all the areas that need to be worked. IMG_0629.thumb.JPG.30732d00c838e83fb0da7b6bc36cc267.JPG

  12. Haven’t been doing much other than working on the body panels in preparation for etch / filler primer.

I have gotten a lot of help from a buddy of mine (hotpot01 on IG) with the fiberglass front end.   Definelty not my forte, but learning as much as I can from him. Other than that, the preparation for the cage and seat mounts are underway.

On a similar note, the first version of a rendering has also been done. The initial color palette is rather interesting. The goal is to have a nostalgic racing appearance and proudly display the supporting sponsors (BC Racing, Champion Cooling, AEM Intakes, Empire Fabrication, So Cal Porting).
