  1. The car runs..but not well. Have not tested every sensor/component...but have new fuel pump, injectors, cap, plugs...basically the tune-up stuff. The engine misses and we're having trouble setting the timing...but my real question has to do with starting. We can get the car to run (not smoothly but pretty strong). If we shut the engine off, then try to restart it, it turns over but won't start. If we then disconnect the injectors/cold start valve electrical connectors...and crank the engine, it will run (briefly) until the apparent residual fuel is burned. We can then reconnect the injectors, crank the engine, and it runs. There are no wires from the Water Temperature Switch (a new one is on our list) and trying to follow the FSM's steps to adjust the timing is not working. We turn the distributor clockwise to its maximum and we cannot get to 13 degrees...and the rpm goes to +/- 1000. Would these be symptoms of a timing chain that has jumped a tooth?
  2. Thanks rags. My 1975 FSM did not include the AC section...but now I see it in the 1976 FSM. I Appreciate your help.
  3. Recently acquired a 1975 280Z for my son. The part pictured in the link below was installed on the passenger wheel well...has an electrical connector and a couple vacuum hoses to the intake manifold. I cannot find it in any drawings nor any references to it in my FSM or EFI Bible. Can somebody tell me what it is...and do I need it. Thanks. http://i694.photobucket.com/albums/vv309/tmworkman/280Z_part.jpg
  4. darom...thanks for responding. Using Xenon's microfiche, I was able to locate the PN...and that led to this thread... http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/1/646924/646999 . It looks like Nissan can get me this switch. Couldn't find it at rockauto.com but I'll keep their link handy.
  5. Just acquired a 1975 280Z for my son...little rust (floorboards). It runs but we still have alot of work to do. Among these, the Water Temperature Switch discussed in this thread has both wires broken/missing. Haven't been able to find the PN (E-Fast doesn't work with my Vista) and our local auto parts dealers keep coming up with the Water Temperature Sensor. Does anybody know where we can get the Water Temperature Switch...or suitable replacement? Thanks in advance.
