  1. Hi all, have an 83 turbo with very intermittent stalling when outside temps are warm to hot. Usually when stopped at a stop sign or light. Puttering around at slow speeds it can start stalling also. It never happens when I'm close to home even though I let the car idle for a while so I can troubleshoot it. Sometime in very hot weather (90'S) I can drive it all day and be fine. Then the next time out it starts stalling in cooler 70-80 deg weather, but hot brings it out. Very frustrating. It also never dies in 70 degs or less weather and the car runs amazingly smooth and strong . When this happens only one way to start it, a 15mn sit with hood open, if I try to start it it sputters a bit then just cranks over with nothing. Sometimes I think its fuel related, sometimes electrical. Just never does it when I want it to at home. One last clue, when it starts doing it on acceleration it will belch black smoke out the back at 3-4 k rpms then I know I should pull over and cool it off. It's a very early winter here so car is sleeping in my garage away from the salt. But, I can work on it but not drive it and it's way to cold for it to stall. Any ideas what is getting hot and how to diagnose in the cooler weather when it won't stall. Lost of stuff on stalling here, but so many fixes. Thanks
