Greetings all, I am working on my 1983 Datsun 280ZX turbo (bought it new)! I mounted my Proturnez 3" down pipe to the new Garrett 3071 turbo and the pipe is about 1/8" from touching the steering heat shield on jacks. I feel confident that it will hit the heat shield while driving. Has anyone had this experience with their Z? Any thoughts on why this might happen or how to gains some space? Many thanks, Mark

The intake is from Protunerz and they tell me there should be no modifications required. I’ve seen many L 28 with this intake on it and never read any mention of a modification being necessary.

I beg your pardon, I meant to say that the hood is hitting the intake throttle body. I have added pictures below, in which I hope you can see my problem. Also, I have taken pictures of the motor mounts as well for comment. I used the transmission mount off my parts car but, when looking at it again, it is no different than the original mount for the automatic transmission. I knew the tranny mount was supposed to be different and assumed, when it bolted up correctly that it must be the right one. I will search for some pics of the manual transmission mount to compare.

Yes , it is hitting the intake throttle body. It is the same motor mounts, same block, no changes other than transmission swap to T5 , rebuilt front end, and the addition of the new Protunerz intake.

L28 Engine sitting too high in engine bay after rebuild and install. Swapped auto to manual T5 transmission but it aligns and bolts up fine. Any help would be much appreciated.
