My wife's father gave her a datsun 240z(1971) I kind of inherited it but its been sitting for some probably 30 years. I have since started to trying to restore it. Here is my question, the engine in it is a L28 which is obviously not original could anyone tell me what I have.

i aquired a 1971 240z from my father in law. Ive been doing some research on the net about it. here is my question, trying to find out what motor is in it. Looked on tag in engine comp and it says L24 (12913) body HLS30 09935. The block has a designator N42, head N42. When I look up N42 block it says its a L28 from a 75 or newer z. Help pls.

Thx. I will check out classic. No chance on original engine her father had the car for some 20 years and he got it that way.
