Ok i have a 74 260z that has no wiper switch on the stalk. I went to the yards today and found a stalk from a 280z that has headlights and wiper on it. will it work on my 260z?As It is starting to rain i need to get my wipers working soon.

My diff has some loud noises. It seems to have alot of play internally. So I am looking to buy an open R180. I know wht I have is not an open and once I have it pulled it will be up forsale. I am looking for an open with no problems as far as backlash goes.

Miata coilovers on my 260z?
DRFTEM replied to DRFTEM's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
we shall see. right now the coilovers are on the back burner. -
i guess i will try that.

ok so i double checked with a buddy what my rpm was at at idle and his gauge read 700 so i checked my wires and my brown wire was cut and reading 1500rpm. so i messed with the wires and only way i could get 700 was hooking all wires up. but now it revs real slow and wont rev past 3k.

oh sorry i should have clarified more. this is an autometer monster tach. It has had the wires clipped for it to read a 6 cylinder and has its signal wire coming from the neg post on my blaster coil. ok found some more info on my tach . now im thinking i have the tach set wrong. can someone tell me if i have it set up right. 8 CYL. (4 Pulse) — NO adjustment is necessary. 6 CYL. (3 Pulse) — Clip BROWN wire loop only. Insulate with electrical tape. 4 CYL. (2 Pulse) — Clip BLUE wire loop only. Insulate with electrical tape. 4 CYL. (1 Pulse) — Clip BROWN and BLUE wire loops. Insulate with electrical tape. so I have the brown wire cut. is that correct? I have a 240z with electronic distributor in it.

Ok I have a 260z with l24 and 5 speed. Om the freeway going 65 im hitting 4500 rpm in 5th. is that normal. it just seams kind of hi for me. oh yeah it might be tire size on my car. It has 225/50 r15 in the rear. is it normal or is it my tire size? or is it the gearing that is causing it?

DRFTEM replied to DRFTEM's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Ok arizona z said there adaptors will not work with my miata coilovers so I guess i will keep on looking. -
no the original one fell into many pieces when I removed the bowl cover. Its fine I found some stuff that was meant to be used neer and around gas.
-
Ok I just noticed that my float was obviously messed up as the bowl was leaking gas from the gasket. so i opened it up and adjusted the float to were it should be according to what I have been told. but I dont have a gasket for sealing the float bowl. Can I use rtv for a temp seal?

DRFTEM replied to DRFTEM's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Ok no thats not the kind of stuff im looking for. Im thinking more of the things called ADAPTER SLEEVES on arizona z car . so basically I have everything except those to make my miata coilovers work. these are what Im looking for -
sorry didnt think about using google sorry but thank you soo much for the info.Ill try to search more before asking next time
-
Ok I couldnt find anything using the search button.I will post up some pictures soon of the dif and the transmission.

Ok well I had my local z buddy look under my car and he says I either have an r180 or r190. I try to spin one tire with both in the air and they both go in the same direction. but it doesnt chirp tires when im driving so I know its not a welded diff and it doesnt make noises like a 2way ussually does. how can I ID my diff? I need to replace my bushing for it so I figure while the diff is out to replace the bushing I will crack it open and take some pictures if im still stumped. This is in my 1974 260z
-
Ok I am looking to buy a short shifter for my z and well I dont have a clue were my 5 speed came from. anyways I can tell?
-
Ok basically I have some apexi N1 EXV coilovers left over from my miata and well I was wundering could I use these on my z. I know id need a threaded sleeve for them to thread into but were can I find one of these? I was thinking I could just chop the miata ones when then I realized the sleeves are aluminum. and those wouldnt weld verry well to the oe shock inserts sleeves which I believe are steel. Does anyone know were I could find the correct sized sleeves that i could weld on so I can install these? The coilovers are 8/6 spring rates and im not certain what most of you run but I also have some 11/9 if those are to soft. Please only help wanted. I dont want to hear about just buy whats for sale . I want to do something a bit different and only looking for actual help.

no i dont. Im gunna probably pull one from the junkyard today if i find one. -
Ok so I have a 74 260z and since ive owned this car the fuel gauge has been reading way below the empty point. so I was looking for a new gauge and was told check the wiring to the sender unit. so i started testing for voltage to the sender and got none. so i moved up to see if the gauge was getting power and it is. so i check with the gauge plugged in to see if the yellow signal wire is getting power through the gauge. on initial start up it sends 10-12 volts. after idling for a couple seconds the voltage signal start jumping from .8 to 8 volts. with my voltmeter hooked up to it the gauge reading didnt change.so does this sound like a faulty gauge? also the ampmeter when the car is running stays in the dead center. it never moves?

Ok I recently am being introduced to carbs. I have only owned fuel injected cars up to this point. I recently purchased a 74 260 with an l24 with su carbs. I found on the rear carb that the fuel line that ran from the float to the needle had a pin whole leak. So i replaced that vaccum looking line with some fuel line and well now the car has a horrible throttle response and idle. My assumption is the previous owner adjusted the carb to make it idle good without noticing the leak. Can I please find someone in the SanDiego area to help me adjust my carbs and teach me so I can do it myself next time??????
