Very nice! I wasn't suggesting that yours might be too low, just pondering aloud. I think the fact that I've got a header meant for an L20B is the root of many of my exhaust problems (I've wondered if it's an ever so slightly canted angle and if the mounting flange is positioned further away from the header flange such as to push the exhaust further down the car chassis - there just didn't seem to be enough room for the fujitsubo twin pipe without severe 'massaging' with the overall exhaust seeming to be too long for my 78 280Z. I'll get those measurements too, can see if that might be the issue.
Yours looks like exactly the tight fitment I was after on an exhaust. Can you PM me pricing and shipping to Canada? Not sure whether your '17 pricelist is still current and I don't want to keep cluttering up your thread :)

Sean is it a fujitsubo gasket? Looks the same as the ones I used with the Fujitsubo twin pipe (that didn't fit my car as my car is too low!)

Sorry this took MONTHS. Jeez. Measurements on a original fujitsubo header attached. Let me know if you need anything else to compare. Mine was originally meant for an L20 (stamped as such), so I'd be interested to know if it's going to be too long or too short from the header flange to the exhaust flange. I can get those measurements too for you. Excuse all the copper gasket gunk.

Without knowing the bore sizes and the placing of the three bolt-holes, I can't confirm.
However, I can share with you what my Street-sport header flange is like for you to compare if you have the Trust header already.

Glad to see how far Z story has come since the zclub.net days! I too am in the same boat with an old Trust/greddy header. Is your flange on the Street-sport header flange 'current' of the 'Needed now' one? Which is correct?
I've got the header off the car, so I'll measure it up this evening for you.

Marugen Shokai on mine I had some MSA ZG flares once...awful in so many ways.
As you can see from pre-paint, they follow the body contours well - wheel sizes are 16x9 and 16x9.5 Watanabes running 225/50/16 and 245/50/16

Both shaft bearings should be rebuildable if they were anything like mine (granted there are some slight differences between a 240/280 rack). I put the grease seal part number on my build thread, somewhere near the bottom of this page.

As for the shims, I'd suggest keeping everything and waiting until you've rebuilt it, check the preload as per the various guides/service manual, if you need the shims, you can always buy appropriate shim stock of the same thickness and trace/cut out another shim. Acklands Grainger and others suppliers carry it.

Just wanted to say how happy I have been with the harness I received from Kurk. He has been a huge help and always happy to give someone business this side of the border. He tested and repaired my MS3 unit, installed the MS3X daughter board for me, and had the main chip replaced under warranty with DIYautotune on realising that mine was hooped.
The harness (along with many other cleaning up of the body harness) and using the fuse/relay block that Kurk supplied has saved me a number of headaches. I must stress that I have NEVER dealt with a vendor more willing to talk one through over multiple emails and long phone calls shooting the breeze about Datsuns on install and the best way to approach problems encountered during the course of that. It really is a credit to his personality and patience.
I would highly, highly recommend this group buy.

That makes sense Sleeper, seems to just be conflicting information depending where you go looking for it. It should be that the dizzy is spinning 2:1 the crank speed (i.e. the cam speed) that's how it's geared.
cegrover - I've placed an order with the dealer for an 82-83 ZXT oil drive shaft so will get you photos/measurements when that comes in.

I don't have the answer to your query cegrover, but I would love to know how this turns out being I'm also looking to put in the optical dizzy on my own car for sequential ignition. I did find this thread - http://forums.ctzcc.com/viewtopic.php?t=5784 in which a poster is adamant that there are different cogs, although a side by side comparisson, they look to be the same diameter (just a different number of teeth). I am wondering if the zcardepot and other sellers of the 280ZXT oil drive spindles on ebay are actually selling a KA spindle or perhaps the spindle from an R30 Skyline? I'm yet to see a crank oil drive worm gear that is of different diameter to another but I haven't seen all that many. Any ideas Fricfrac?

I've never bad mouthed someone on a forum and I don't intend to now, but I feel my recent experience trying to order from Pallnet is a bit 'off' and being that this is a community where group buys, deals etc often fail it's worth mentioning to the general forum for the benefit of everyone. I'm just going to let the emails do the talking and people can make their own judgements. I don't have any ill will against Peter, the guy was still working with a broken wrist for goodness sake, I'm just perplexed by his tone in dealing with what I figured was a relatively simple issue that could have been handled far, far better and miles more professionally.
To give context, I'm running a built L28 with a Casey-made intake manifold and wish to run 11mm Supra injectors via a dead-head fuel rail with a Halltech EMS. So, I tried to order an

I will be more than happy to make you a custom fuel rail for your project but the only color I've always offered is brushed aluminum. Some customers in the past have anodized, powdercoat and painted them but most clean and clearcoat them.

All of my rails are brushed aluminum, no other color available but the rails can be powdercoated or even anodized after polishing. I'm sorry but that will have to be done on your end.
A stock FPR or an aftermarket unit can be used with my fuel rails. I do not sell FPRs. I highly recommend Summit or JEGS for your FPR needs.

Sorry for not giving you the heads up, I think my day job is overworking me at the moment.
It was shipped a week ago from today on the 18th. Shipping out of the country takes a little longer, as can be expected. Here is the customs # CV033274625US I shipped it priority mail and insured with USPS. It shows the package to be in Miami Fl. For some reason when I ship an out of the country package it goes there before flying out to the country it's going to.

I really can't count how many times people change their minds about their order because of mod changes. I get many emails where the talk is of a certain type of rail and then they have an injector change at the last minute, so the order is different from a week of email exchanges. Not saying this is the case but this explains why I make the order directly from the paypal transfer. This is why I ask to have the order in the transfer.
There are options here. Package the kit well and return to me. I will make the other rail. Refund you the difference in price provided the old rail kit is complete and not damaged so I can sell it.

While I don't appreciate you implying that I changed my mind, (which your prior emails' tone insinuates, despite your "i'm not saying this" disclaimer), nor did you ever ask me to have the order in the transfer in our past emails, I do appreciate the options given. It would have been a little more professional to take even partial responsibility in place of sending me the paypal invoice as a reply.
Given the time and hassle involved for both of can you just tell me if the rail as is could be machined by a competent machine shop here given it's already drilled and tapped, to fit 11mm o-ring injectors? You're then absolved of having to do anything with your broken wrist.

I honestly don't think it was a change of mind. I honestly think it was just an accident when ordering. Sometimes things happen and given the fact that we are many many miles apart it only makes it a little harder to resolve but I am willing to work with you and help you get the part that will work with your setup. I will be back in my shop in a week, with a cast and working so I no reservations about making the 11m rail.
As far as reboring the holes to accept 11mm injectors, it can't be done without welding up the holes. This is not worth the effort. The o-ring rails are offset as well which adds complication to trying to rebore. The threaded holes are also too close in size as the 11mm holes. The only means of doing this correctly is to replace it with the right rail for the job.

First thing, I never have to do this but I feel the need in this situation.
A full/total refund has been issued to you, please check your Paypal for the funds. Thank you for taking the time to return the rail you incorrectly ordered. I'm sorry that we couldn't do business but After removing the shipping funds from the original total there was no way to complete a transaction including shipping for a new fuel rail with the remaining total. I can't regain shipping funds.
The refund should have had the $50.00 shipping removed from it but I absorbed the shipping expence. Althought doing this is not easy on my end because I can't go around giving people $50.00, I felt it was for the best. From your emails to me I feel that even if I sent the 11mm rail to you that somehow I would get another rude email from you at a later date.
Please keep in mind that all of my emails are archived.

It's a little premature, but given I test fitted it last night (who am I kidding, I just couldn't wait once I got it home from the builder) hopefully I can get a free pass .
Running it with a powder white Greddy to Fujitsubo Legalis manifold/exhaust and one of Casey (Senza Paris}) intake manifolds. Just reading up now about what I am doing to route the water lines and deleting much of the 280Z necessities.

Some of you may have noticed my wanted post went unanswered. It was proving impossible to find the gland nuts for a 280Z strut tubes to fit Tokico illumina struts (I have the MR2 (BZ-3099) front struts...which come with gland nuts for..well..an MR2.
Undeterred I did some ferreting. So, for the benefit of everyone.
Tokicos phone number and guy to talk to about part numbers is Ray - 1-800-548-2549
Tokico didn't want to send me any gland nuts, but the did direct me to....Motovicity (which as of yesterday) is now the new Tokico Wholesale Distributor for North America. Their phone number is 1-888-773-3316. They have 1000 on order of the gland nuts, which are about 4-6 weeks out, my car is still awaiting paint so I'm in no rush...
Paul at Motovicity then gave me phone numbers for 3 distributors in Canada, one for the west, middle and Quebec so I end up talking to Eric at Teknotik (1-416-907-3851) who is only too happy to order some for me.
Part number for the gland nut to fit any of these Tokico shocks for a 76-78 Datsun 280Z with 280Z strut tubes. Shocks - HZ-3012, BZ-3012, BZ3013 is...4A16085-A
I ordered several because well..I'm bound to need more at some point. $5.86 Canadian a piece. Will update once I receive them and confirm if they fit!

...place strut in strut tube...tighten on gland nut...if can move strut when tight, remove gland nut, add washer, replace gland nut...tighten. no movement? job is a goodun.

Tomei Cam Lobe damage - Salvagable?

Hello, a long time since I've written anything here but here goes -
Had the long block put back together a number of years ago by a reputable builder in Toronto, ON, it had been a while since he'd worked on anything with a Nissan name on it but he's done something somewhat unforgivable in my book - he never read the cam card. This is THE go-to one man show Drag engine builder in Toronto.
Long story short, despite my insistence that new lash pads were needed for the 280 8.3mm lift Tomei Procam, he assured me the existing lash pads were in good enough shape. He used the STOCK L28 lash tolerances as oppose to the ones from the cam card. He never read the guide from Braappp that I'd supplied. I stupidly assumed that he would have machined the old lash pads to fit. Nope, he just threw them back in. A huge disappointment on what was otherwise a lovely engine build done really nicely.
This is the result from him running it in on a run in machine. Can the cam be salvaged or is it toast? I can't really 'feel' any damage, but on a few of the lobes it certainly looks bad.
Compounding this, and very related, I had in the head Bryan (ZCCJDM's) now NLA tooling steel rocker arms. There was no real need for these, but I had them, so they went in. Could that be the source of the issue as oppose to out of spec lash pads? I do have a set of old stock rockers that I thankfully held on to that I can clean up if needed with some new lash pads.
Any advise would be most welcome. Happy to order a new cam and start clean, but if there's no need to, I'd rather avoid it.
