  1. Okay thats what I was thinking. I should have been more specific in my question. I am referring to the front frame rails. The floor rails have been recently replaced before I had purchased the car just the not the front frame rails. MSA and Zedd findings are the same front rails?
  2. i was assuming that they were different because zedd findings were cheaper than msa. I had emailed baddag and he had told me to email zedd findings for the front frame rails
  3. I did search but didn't find any true comparisons. Your guys opinion whos frame rail MSA or Zedd Findings is stronger/better built/best fit.
  4. i might have also missed this also but what nap are you using. Are you using very fine or rough? I'm assuming fine but i figured I would ask beforehand.
  5. there located about 15 minutes away from my house. I'v been planning on trying to get there and taking a look at the quality of there stuff. If I get around to it I will definitily let every one know but until then I am as unsure as you are.
  6. I know I'm gonna sound really dumb here and I could search for it and i will if nobody feels like answering but what is the difference between the welders. Brief description.. edit* mig, tig, and stick -Ron
  7. thanks guys...saving me some money here . Any of you guys from around cleveland that would be interested in helping. That would be even better http://forums.hybridz.org/images/icons/icon10.gif Talking -Ron
  8. thanks. I personally have no clue what to really look for in a welder because I am as new to welding as anyone could possibly be. I tried it once with my buddies welder a couple years back but other than that I have absolutly no experience what so ever. I wouldn't even attempt to do my own frame rails if I had the money to take it to shop but I think i have a pretty good idea on how to do it with keeping the body straight and etc. just have to learn how to weld
  9. I know that I may get the should have used the search comment however I did search and couldnt find anything and many specific models of welders. I am going to be using it for miscellanous body and for remaking my front frame rails ( going to be cutting the old ones out and welding in new ones ) will something like http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=55250 suffice?..I am currently going through my paramedic training and money is low but then again wasting 150dollars on a p.o.s. welder wont help. Any input will be appreciated thank you -Ron
  10. Anybody from ohio/cleveland area know of anywhere where they do media blasting. I looked in yellow pages and on google and I couldnt find anywhere that did. Anybody know anything. Thank you -Ron

  17. yea I thought I did but I couldn't figure out how to resize them after I realized it didn't post with the picture. The spot were the sway bar mounts to the frame has completely seperated. Try visualize it and I will get pictures posted as soon as I can.
  18. I wasn't sure if this belonged here or in the chasis forum but I decided to try here. I'll start with some basic info about myself/ my z since mainly I am just one of the lurkers who never post. This is my second 240z I unfortunalty totalled my first one which was a birthday present from my dad. I was 16 and immature. I went on for the next two years without a z and needed to get back into it. For my 18th birthday my dad and I flew out to Colorado and purchased my current 240. At the time neither him nor I noticed the rust on the rails. This last summer when I started to get the car cleaned up to go out in I noticed the rails. And it has been up on jackstands ever since. I'Im guessing that most of you do not care but I figured I would throw it out there. I amfairly new to this kind of extensive work. I can do body work and most of the mechanical work needed but when it comes to choping and welding I am kind of lost. This what it looks like now. I was thinking about going and getting some a piece of angle iron thats the same gauge as the original rail and cutting it where the cancer ends and then taking thicker angle iron and completely boxing in the rail. I would do this to the other side also because their is minor( mino compared to this side) rot on the driver side frame rail also. If somebody with more knowledge on this subject could me more information that would be very much appreciated.
  19. I never even thought about the paint splatter from closing a paint can. My incident is my fault and I hate to admit this. I was sanding with an orbital that i had put stripper on earlier. I thought i had wiped it all off but I guess I didnt. Definitly one of the scariest things that has happened.
  20. I know that there has been previous threads with this topic and in fact i have read them. I just wanted to remind everyone to take safety precautions when working with chemicals and etc. Last night i was working with paint stripper and I have gotten off lucky with only very minor burns and scratches to my eye. If I would have been wearing safety glasses the whole incident would have been avoided and would of saved me the 75 dollar ER visit. So everyone be safe and have fun! Had to rant about it I couldnt go without it.
  21. Thank you gentlemen. Any advice you guys give is taken to heart as i am a newbie to the body work and etc. I'll post pics as i make my progress
  22. I went and checked out the autozone and advanced stores in my area and none of them had any of the adhesives you guys advised me to use. Would one of the jb-weld products be strong enough? The guy at autozone told me to use the JB industo cold weld compound. He said that he used it to patch a couple holes in his wranglers floor board and its held up for two years so far. Any of you have experience using this and know wether or not it will hold up?
  23. I have been searching and searching and I cannot find the thread which RacerX mentions the adhesive to use when cold welding. Anybody reccomend any certain adhesive. I am planning on shaving my rear and my welding skills way beyond awful so any other method is what im looking for.
