First update to add, no new pics. Got down to my parents house, and made all the preparations to get it the Z started up again. Unfortunately we ran in to a few issues, first was spark. That was resolved by replacing the condenser on the distributor. Second issue was no fuel, unfortunately we didn't have time to work this out, but we are going to check the mechanical fuel pump and the fuel lines. After the system was primed, and we had oil pressure, we were able to get it to light using starting fluid, so once we figure out our fueling issue it should start (fingers crossed) We did find out that it has aftermarket Front and rear sway bars (Suspension Techniques in the rear) and a urethane steering coupler. Bonus!

Question regarding a T3 Turbocharger rebuild

The Plan: 1. Get car road worthy/safe a. Get car started (oil, fresh gas, spark plugs/wires, general tune-up items, ect) b. Flush and change brakes c. Flush and bleed clutch d. Change any remaining fluids not mentioned in the above e. Get front end back on f. Make sure all lights/electrical systems work g. New wheels/tires (Enkei Apache II with 215/60-15 BFgoodrich Radial T/A unless someone else has a different opinion) 2. Clean out interior a. Remove all junk from interior b. Remove spider-webs 3. Move car from parents garage to my garage (about 2.5 hrs) That is the short term plan. Next up will be bodywork. As I said before the car is 99% rust free. I will be removing the body molding down the side and filling in the holes, as well as any other damage that needs repairing, so far all that i know of is on the pass. side 1/4. The car will be resprayed in the orig. green. At the same time I will likely do some suspension work. After that will be mechanical work. My dad is throwing in one of the complete L28ET drive trains that he has with the car. The motor will be getting a complete refresh as I see necessary. If I crack it open, and its still pristine, I'm going to throw it in and run it until it dies, AND THEN rebuild from there. I plan on wiring up a Mega Squirt. I have past experience with MS on my Miata, and feel this will be the best way to go. I plan on going distributerles using LS coils (obviously controlled by the MS. Along with the coils I will also be using ID725 injectors, with a bigger turbo (haven't decided on this one yet.) I would like to see 325-350whp by the time I am done. With the mechanical side of things I will also be working on some chassis stiffening, and more advanced suspension, but this is far down the road, and haven't looked to much in to it yet. That's all for now. I will be keeping this thread up to date as much as possible.

Over this last weekend (5/26/2012-5/27/2012) I picked up a 1970 240z from my dad. He used to restore them for a living and as a result has a few laying around. The one I picked up is pretty much rust free, and was running before it was parked where its been for about 10 years. I'm going to use this journal to keep track of progress and lay out a plan for my self and for others who may be interested. First up, the car as it sits right now:

After watching the 3 videos on their ebay page, I'm not sure that I would want that anywhere near my car. (first one nearly catching the car on fire and the second charring the rear bumper.)

anyone have pics of Panas on a 280zx, i know they look good on a early z, but i dont know if I want to do the hub conversion(unless the Ariazona Z car 300zx big brake kit boults up fairly easily) , and i dont wanna use adaptors and there arnt to many wheels that fint the 280 that i like. I havent seen a pic of Panas on a 280zx yet.

I have a 1982 280zx that has a stalling problem. what happens is when im cruizing along, its fine. Then I pull up to a stop light where i have to sit for maybe 3-5 mins and it stalls out, not just dying it stutters for like 5 seconds, if i give it gas nothing...then i have to wait like 10-15 seconds before i can start it again. first i thought it maybe a vaccum leak, i replaced all the vac lines, retimed the engine, still happens. i dont know whats going on, it doesnt do it all the time, its almost like the fuel line gets air or something in it. can anyone help?

im just trying to got to 300rwhp...and like everyone says once i ghet used to that..you know what happens. So i am very undecisive right now...But i am going to get a dailydriver soon so that opens up my options a little. I want something i can take to the track everynoa and again but mainly for weekend crusing.

Thats what the JWT ECU is programed for once the turb reaches full boost, around 3k it shuts off the NOS

Is anyone running JWT ECUs in any of there cars? I have a 280zx looking to do a turbo swap, I dont know if i wanna go with something like electomotivs or anything programable. How do the JWT ecus perform, what hp ranges are they good for.

Anyone used NOS for spool-upif u had a big turbo. I know JWT has a ECU upgrade that uses this method.

I cant see the pic i would love too tho. Any problems with overheating if u choose too big of an ic? i saw mikes on ole blue and it looks like it almost covers the whole raidiator!

What are the Benefits of converting to the z31 ECU/MAF? When should it be done? Would a JWT ECU upgrade and cobra MAF be more approate under certain conditions?
