  1. Jesus is there anything this board doesn't know about guns! I think you guys know more about loading bullets than building engines! LOL

I loaded my own shotgun shells when I was tournment shooting so I know the basics on reloading. I had to reload because I was going through 1000 shells a week easy! My GF's dad is big into loading shells and bullets so he should be able to help me get what I need to load.

I will have to talk to my roomate about buying a press together so we can load our our bullets. That should keep the inital cost down!

Thanks for all the links Grumpy!

I guess we all like things that go boom (well, not my engines). I was thinking of taking some time to flyfish in Alaska, and unlike here, where we only have black bears that are afraid of people, grizzlies are a real worry. You can't just say "boo" and get rid of them. I know a lot of fishing guides carry the .454 Casul, and I was thinking of getting a revolver. I like the ability to use the .45 acp for practice. I usually practice with a Glock 22 (.40 SW). It's probably wishful thinking that I could protect myself with any gun, since if a grizz wanted to eat me, I would probably pee in my pants and have no chance of hitting the thing.

I don't like the idea of pistol hunting, but if that's all you are allowed, practice, practice, practice (I average about 500 rounds a week, mostly rimfire rifle). I prefer hunting with large caliber rifles that deliver a lot of energy so the animals won't suffer. I wish more places would allow rifles.

  2. Just curious, but the universe is a vaccum, so to add volume to it, wouldnt that make you a blow hard? Or if you mean increasing the amount of vaccum thats already there,, wouldnt that mean you suck?:lmao:

J/K man, saw that and couldnt resist.

Well, I do liposuction also, so I guess I do suck. I don't like it as much, but when I add implants up top and do some suction to make a woman's waist impossibly small, I guess I've done my part to maintain equilibrium in the universe.

  3. The Warhawks should be available to "regular" people by the end of the year. I talked with my builder about the advantages of a dry sump, but he said with work the GM blocks shouldn't need one, and the Warhawk is completely redesigned so it won't need one.

There's no way you're going to leave that thing NA. Once you go boost, you have to have it  :yum: Then you'll be :bash: yourself because you got the stock LS7 bottom end. :haha: If that's the power you're after (~600hp), why not get a cheap 402 LS2 based motor and a "small" turbo? Wouldn't that run less than the LS7, make the same power, and have better driveability/mileage? I hate that big NA motors are a PITA to drive with the heads/cam packages they need to make big power. I love the fact that my TA drives like a stock car though (baby cam)!

Factory LS7 heads are expensive, 4 times the cost of the L92s.

You're right about the fact that I'm plotting to someday boost the thing. It is addictive. Fortunately, it's very difficult boost an RX7 and keep everything under the stock hood. That's why I've decided to go all motor on this project, and that's why I went with more displacement when the opportunity presented itself. Besides, the FD3S is better suited as a track car, and boost isn't as helpful in this situation.

  4. Why the LS7 shortblock? I went with the L92 heads on the end, but if I end up lifting one then I'll get the LS7X heads for the extra head studs. For nearly any application I'd say you have other options than the LS7 stuff, plus your boosted so the "weak" L92 heads should offer plenty (over 320 out of the box for under a grand including Patriot's spring kit).

I'm using an LS7 shortblock because Scoggins Dickey was able to come up with a wet sump setup for about $6100, somewhat "reasonable" and I didn't really know when the Warhawk blocks will really be available. The tuning shops are going to get them first, for sure. As far as the heads, I would prefer the LS7x heads (they are supposed to be cheaper than the factory heads), but the stock heads flow really well, so I am not absolutely commited to them-they say they will be shipping them in mid Nov, but who knows for sure. This will be for my RX7, which will not be boosted.

The L92 stuff is going to be awesome once it hits the general market. "Cheap" and makes a lotta horsepower.

  5. I'm a know nothing and I was able to do the wiring. A bit of advice though. The LS2 harness is pretty much stand alone as it is, so it won't be much of a problem. Don't create one like I did and rip out a perfectly good chassis wiring system because you think it's old. If it works OK, keep it. Using the Painless Harness is pretty easy and it did teach me a lot. They have a pretty good book on automotive wiring also. I got it at Barnes and Noble.

  6. That's why it took so damn long to get my car running. Sure you can stuff a couple of turbos in there, but doing so and keeping everything in there that needs to be there was the hard part, along with adding a decent sized intercooler. Looks like a case of someone who started the project and got tired of banging his head against a brick wall.

  7. Nope... just in tune with reality. And BTW... what's wrong with dirty old men running around with 20-year-old babes. If they can afford the sugar daddy goodies and the Viagra, MORE POWER TO THEM:mrgreen: Frankly, I'M ENVIOUS!!:icon56:

What's wrong with dirty old men running around with young babes? I'll tell you what's wrong. THE WIFE SAYS I DON'T GET TO BE ONE OF THEM !
