Yo, Boy you did a number on that motor! Must have been a weak piston ! you must have been malikng some serious power. My first blow-up was a .040 327, broke 2 ringlands on #7 piston, but you outdid myself. Good luck on your rebuild.

Yeah, I agree with dr hunt, the performer has to go. Like he says get a victor jr, team g, or I would try the new worldproducts motown manifold for the sbc, looks pretty good to me. Check it out at this link:
It does sound like a great deal to me, I would buy it if you guys don't, if I knew where it was that is............lol.
-
Yo, This has been tried before and usually doesn't work to well. You would be much better off getting a Holley 2 barrel, they work really well. Good luck.
-
I know you are in Az, but you might want to check out this link, they have a really nice selection of stang stuff.
-
Yo, varsol is good, machine shop idea is good also, done that myself. If you know someone in the aviation field, get some MEK (methyl ethyl ketone). Works great, altough the fumes are powerful and NOT good for your skin.
-
Kudos dr hunt, it sounds awesome, go fry some rice.........lol
If you can get some traction it will be total bad a**!!
Idea, give the Monte to your son and keep the Z, I'll bet it would be faster anyway.
-
Yo, I heard it has the same bellhousing pattern as a GM 60 degree v6, 2.8, 3.4, etc. If not visit wilcap engine adaptors, if they don't have it, I'll bet they can make it. http://www.wilcap.com
I'll bet it would make a nice high-rev turbo powerplant for a z.

I got two words for this ferrari BAD A**!!! Hope tp see some finished pics

Yo,
A friend of mine has done this in the past. He had a cast-iron spreadbore manifold and a Holley 600 square-bore. He simply ground out the offending pieces and it seemed to work much better. Good luck

Yo,
If you really want to kick ur motor up a notch, there is some 18 degree bowtie aluminum heads for the 4.3 on ebay, bid is currently $200.00.
Sure, an sbc swap is nice, but a 4.3 swap ic cool 'cause it's different.
It seems everyone and their brother has done an sbc, but how many 4.3's do you hear about? Lighter weight, extra room for intercoolers and such, etc.
Those heads, 10.5:1 comp, nice roller cam, bowtie intake manifold, 750 dp,
oh my mind is starting to wander, I'd better go.............lol

Yo,
Depending on how bad the journal is, you may be better off just getting another crank from the salvage yard. As common as these engines are, you should be able to get one pretty cheap. As cheap as new rings are just replace them while you have it apart, trust me it's cheap insurance. It would be best to dis-assemble the whole motor anyway so you can inspect the rest of it. Would be a great time to add a hotter cam to........lol
Good luck.

Unfortunately, breaing stuff is part of the learning process, I've been there a few times myself. The good thing about playing with the 4.3 is they are pretty common and cheap, check ebay for stuff, lots of people swap them for v8's too. My stepdad is putting one in a 72 240z, fits nicely, not sure what he is going to do for exhaust though. Anyway, good luck going back-together with it.

Yo,
I hope it's just the flywheel, good luck. It may be easier to just remove the trans instead of the engine, then if flywheel is cracked, just change it in the car. Do you have any pics of your swap by chance?
-
Yo, I had this same problem once, it turned out to be a cracked flywheel.
Start the engine, let it idle, put the car in gear with your foot on the brake,
if the noise gets softer, it's most likley the flywheel. I hope this helps.
-
This motor sounds pretty intimidating, but I think it would be better suited in maybe a lightweight slingshot dragster. Would be hella fast............
-
Yo jap tin,
sounds like quite a healthy beast you got there.........any links to pics?
Thanks for your time.
