  1. Guy, I ended up removing the red LED's from the Tac & Speedo, and left them in the center gauges. I could not read the rpm and speed very well, due to it being just a red haze using those red LED's.

I think they would have worked for me if the correct bulb pattern were chosen.

    J,

Do you have any pix? I was thinking of going the red route til I read your post.

  2. I'm trying to sell my daily driver car and this guy emails me the following. Sounds like a scam to me...I haven't responded yet but my first inclination is to say "cash only" or "title transfer only after check is cleared".

It also sounds like I'm expected to ship the car on his dime. Hell no! Too much hassle.

Opinions? How do you guys handle receipt of payment vs release of ownership?

    --------------

Good to hear from you i really appreciate the response, i will need you to consider the car sold to me and am in total agree with the final price so i will call my secretary first thing tomorrow to issue out the check as soon as you send me your full name and address including your phone number and i will want you not to bother yourself about the shipping i have an international shipping company that would handle the shippment all you need to do is try and determine the car weigth very well if available for now because the shipping fee for the car will be included to the check and we wouldn't like to make mistake with the weigth, so as soon as you recieve the check you will deduct your car fee and send the rest to the shipping company so all i need now is the wiegth and once again thanks DO NOT FORGET TO SEND ME YOUR FULL NAME AND ADDRESS FOR PAYMENT ASAP.

  3. Wow, what did you use for a mold release? Looks like it just bonded to the paint.

It did bond with the paint, not even the liquid paint stripper I have from Home Depot is this strong! I used a mold release wax, specifically made for these jobs. But the gelcoat still ate thru...This next side has more than double the coats of wax.

  4. What do those gauges in the door panel do?

Fill in the holes I drilled:) Actually, theyre extra gauges for vacuum/boost, voltage, etc. Im looking for a good looking clock too. Will need EGT one day, and maybe some wideband O2 stuff.

I figured a boost gauge that I can see and one for the passenger should be entertaining enough.

  5. No, what I mean is for manufacturing processes, if I closed off the vents it would be easier for me. And if I shipped them like that and let the customer cut them, even easier.

I'm not sure this is the best way for me yet either tho. just asking for general opinion.

This type of hood vent won't force air to your carb. The raised lip on the hood creates a negative pressure differential which sucks air OUT of the engine bay. I placed them right behind the radiator and over the headers for that reason.

    check out this pic

  6. I am serious I will be happy to sport some "Owen " specials on my hood.....

LOL, i NEED to come up with some kinda brand name or something!

Never liked my name...hated my parents for it too! :)

Just an FYI, planning is in progress. This is gonna be much harder than expected for me to make molds.

Would anyone care if I produced parts with the vents blocked off? I mean the openings facing the front of the car...the openings on the vents...to the engine bay.

It's still not firm but I'd hate to make them this way, for myself and for others.

  7. I got an angle grinder and the cheapo 10$ ebay vents, they actually dont look to shabby. I needed a solution for the Houston weather during the summer to cool the temps a little. It will be a temporary solution until I can get my hands on a welder, and attempt something equal to Owens car.

Man, what a NICE front air dam. It makes me want to go out and work on my car right now. It gives me a lot of inspiration to see something as nice and unique as your car,Owen. How many years did it take for you to assemble/build it?

thanks for the kind words. i guess about 6 years now, off and on, and changing ideas too many times!

  8. What type of foam did you use and did you removed it? I want to try to make a set when I have a chance, like the one in my sig.

The same kind of foam that florists use, check out a crafts shop in your area. it's the really dense foam, not the one with the large cells. and do a resin test first before you create your project!

and yes i did remove the foam

  9. Anymore updates on this? I can't stop coming back to this thread and then checking ebay for craigslist for cheap 13bt's. No luck so far though... What are your thoughts on boosting a NA 13b? Those I can find quite easily and dirt cheap.

You might want to spend the extra money and get one in good condition. I discovered a water jacket failure in mine and had to buy a whole new set of used irons:-(

An NA can be boosted but the compression ratio is higher for the rotors. It's been done tho.

Auxillary, look what you started. First me and now everyone else is copying you!

  10. I am in for sure. The only sorry I have is the clearance with the air cleaner on my carb setup. Since I am boosted I can not move it at all.....But if it will clear I will be there with money waiting.

Do you have any pix? I could give you measurements of my vents, but you could easily cut them a little and push them outwards towards the fenders if they didn't fit.

  11. What constitutes "confirmed"? All with a $50 non-refundable deposit... if 10 buyers place said down-payment... refundable if not? I'm in!!

Like I said, I don't know. I've never done this before.

Let me make a set or two first, I don't want to collect all this money and then have to return if if the project goes south, etc.

    So...give me some time :-)

  12. Hi - I have always loved the vents in your bonnet, did not know it was yours but knew the car. One of very few really clean cars in my list of Z Favourites.... my all time favourite one being at http://zhp.satokikaku.com

Yours was pretty close to that for me :-)

If you make the glass moulds and reproduce sets presumably I could cut the existing steel bonnet and sink some in ?????

    Cheers

    Andy F

Oh yeah, that car is sweet! I know the owner, tho not personally.

And yes, presumably you could just cut the steel and mold them in!

  13. Owen...Your car always looks so clean. The Pics out by the QM really turned out nice. Good close up shots. Thanks for sharing.

    VAN

thanks VAN! did you check out the link at the top? some good shots of your car too? if you click the left or right-most picture, it scrolls thru a bunch.

maybe i shoudna said a week to get started on these vents...if my wife finds out im working on something other than the dead Z32 in the driveway...

  14. ^^^ I'm interested in a set or two. ^^^

if i am to pull a mold of the vents, i'd like at least 10 firm buyers. it would take at least a week for me to pull a decent mold + whatever hours to make one set at a time.

the vents are around 2ft long? i'd need to get boxes...price range would be around $300 for the set. "around" being the operative word here :-).

i don't know how sales will go, full payment in advance? a downpayment? i dont want a bunch of extra vents laying around my garage. and i dont have enough time to make a set each time i get an order. some of the older...or should i say, original, members can vouch for me...i started this hybridz thing before it was called hybridz.

my vents are notched in one place to clear the strut tower bar, if that's undesireable, i'd have to pull a mold, make a new set, fix the notch, make another mold, and then be ready to pull parts...add another month or so to the timeline.

  15. He definately spent some $$$$$$$ on that addition

more time than money! im talking weeks here.

sorry to all, ive changed web hosts and have not uploaded anything. i may have some on photobucket.com.

just a re-introduction. the entire hood is fiberglass and the vents were molded in separately.

the airdam is also all glass and made from scratch. that is an old pic before it was color sanded.

the bumper is, you guessed it, fiberglass. note the LED turn signals mounted into the bumper.

unfortunately, time is my enemy and i havent been able to play at making more parts lately...
