    Haltech Help

I have been working on a L28ET swap into a 260 for quite some time now and have made many modifications into it. Including a Haltech E6k. I have been working on this unit for nearly 2 years and Still cannot get it to fire. I have gotten some responses on here before and have gone through and check it and so far I just can't figure it out. I will finally admit it... I am obviously in over my head. So I need help. I get an erratic spark, my rpm reading jumps from 20 to 180 while turning over, and I can't tell whether or not i am getting fuel. I hooked up a node light and I didn't get anything so maybe that is my problem. I thought I had an issue with my trigger because of the erratic rpm reading and spark. But now I am wondering if it is something else, such as the fuel. I just don't know anymore. I am so ready to get it running as it hasn't moved for 4 years total, 2 years on this haltech E6K. So here is my plea, offer, whatever... Can someone please give me some help! I am willing to help anyone else out anyway I can. If I have to pay someone for some help so be it, but maybe someone has some ideas and would be willing to just help me out. You can get me at austinc7@juno.com or 601-813-4395 I would be happy to post more of the specs if it would help out. Austin Clark
  2. oh yea... I am getting plenty of Voltage. I donno I was very careful to mark the top of my 84 dist. wheel. But maybe, just maybe, i flipped it by some freak mistake... I just don't understand how it would register some numbers if it was flipped. My next thing will be to flip it over for the hell of it. Any other ideas to try while I am over there let me know. Austin
  3. OK so even though I am not using the distributor to fire the engine I am using coil packs I set it to Distributor? Sorry if I seem dense but I just like questions. Austin
  4. Ok to set the stage i have a 260 with a 280et motor in it hopefully to be run by a Haltech E6K. For triggering I am using the 83 Distributor and a 84 300ZX distributor wheel. I am set in Direct Fire/Waste Spark mode for fuel and spark. So with that said I just finished wiring up the unit and I when I turn it over I get an erratic number for my RPMs. It will usually start at 180 the jump to 120 the back to 180 and then just drop to 0 and If I keep turning it over then it may jump back to 180 again. I get spark, but it is erratic also and I haven't pulled my injectors to see if I get fuel. My settings are: Trigger Input = Hall Effect Trigger Edge = Rising Home Input = Hall Effect Home Edge = Rising Home Window Teeth = 9 Nissan Tooth offset = 1 Trigger Type = Nissan Trigger Angle = 41 So I think everything is set right but I am just boggled by why it isn't working. I think the issue is strictly in the trigger (and settings?) because I do get RPMS they just aren't consistently regestered. Anyways thanks in advance for any help and if your a haltech wiz feel free to reach me at austinc7@jam.rr.com Austin Clark
  5. cool... so does any one know where I can purchase just a better flowing wheel for a garrett .60 compressor? i have an s trim right now.
  6. Hey, a friend of mine built a t3/t4b hybrid today by installing the backing plate, wheel, and compressor housing of a t4 onto the center section and exhaust housing of the t3. It was operational tonight and seemed to work quite nicely. My question was Has anyne else ever done this or know anything about doing it? I was thinking about possibly doing it myself but using a better wheel then the s trim. What do you all think? Austin
  7. In My old 83 ZXT I hit 136 with the t-tops off pretty stupid to do it with out the t-tops but was fun
  8. 240zturbo... user? company? can ya give me a little more info?
  9. Ok... I am nw to all this still but I was talking with a friend about my 1st gen Z with a rebuilt L28 turbo running a t4 at 8-10psi with a 75 shot of nos. Is there any one who knows where I can find or buy an auto tranny that would handle the power the power and also have a stall converter in the 2500-3000 range. i tried searching hybridz but didn't find anything of help. The only reason I ask about one with that high of a range is because it would allow the engine rpms to get high enough for the turbo to be "pre-spooled" once the converter locked and it sent power to the wheels. I plan on using this vehicle as a street rod/drag rod and I guess would need a tranny cooler for it? Would a trans brake help out too? I will be using a stock rear end for the time being which has 3.58 gears(I think???) on a set of 8in. wide rears with some nitto drag radials. Thanks for all the help
  10. I am looking to upgrade to a EMS and I was wondering if Zs can be upgraded to a map sensor and if so how easy is it. I tried a search but didn't have much luck. thanks. Austin
  11. hmmm... well i aquired the engine and what not from a guy around here who was building it. Also my t04b is an a/r .60 47mm s trim compresser with a p trim exhaust wheel. I am aware of the lag on that 1.00 but i have heard that when it boosts it with boost higher and stronger(true or false). Well since i have some things wrong, what all would y'all say i should change? I need some ideas on timing control(retard and whatnot). any help would be great!!! I am on quite a budget but yes i do have the stock computer. Anybody who knows a really good Z wiz in the Mississippi(preferably)/AL/TN/LA area that would be open to helping a novice out would be awesome. BTW i am a 17 y/o Zer who is still learning the ropes. My goal is to embarass my friends heavily modded 96 cobra. Don't think it's hard just have to figure out how. Thx austin austinc7@juno.com
  12. yo, i am brand new to this site and i have a question for any of you turbo buffs. I am setting up a 260z with a 82 turbo motor pushing a t4. I am wondering if anyone around here has done this before? and if any one can give me an estimated hp, 1/4mile, etc.? I have a built bottom end, 75 intake with m'benz injectors on a custom rail(i was told they are somewhere around 450), 240sx throttle body, garrett t04b with an a/r1.00 on the exhaust and an a/r .63 on the compresser, external wastegate set currently at 8psi, intercooler, hks bov, 12:1 rising rate fuel pressure regulator, vortech t-rex fuel pump 50/70 and 5 speed tranny. So anybody have any ideas?? I have been told that it should be a cobra killer and quite possibly a viper killer. But I would like some second opinions. Thanks for your help! Austin
