  1. 18K so far 23K all said and done. Someone someday will get a good deal lol.
  2. I use MSA mounts with hooker long tube headers. It all works out good...and clears. Great ground clearnace too. MSD small cap dist is about an inch or so from firewall. You have to ditch the oem hood latch same as JTR. If you want to use the oem latch style a bracket replacement from MSA works out fine or just run hood pins if your racing anyways. Here are some pics in my hybridz gallery if interestsed. This to me is the best set up for a V8z but to each there own. http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=500&page=3&ppuser=10889 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/PRC01 http://www.holley.com/2147HKR.asp http://www.holley.com/data/Products/Technical/2147HKR.pdf
  3. Oh my god that is one kick ass ride!
  4. Had similar issues mounting Corbeau A4s so I made seat pans to lower seats and xmembers to replace the removed oem structure. It was alot of work but just to show you another approach. Pics in my gallery. Brian http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=11014&cat=500&ppuser=10889
  5. FWIW A bit of Z car history here... http://altecproducts.com/products_zzxlenses.htm The msa covers are actually manufactured by Altec Products Inc. My father started this buisness some 30 years ago with 240Z headlight cover. In the early days they were vacuum formed using silcone covered molds in the garage and later on in the 80's injection molded. We still sell them today.
  6. Very Nice work Terry! Here is ours. The shimming pinion concept is the same. Also we shimmed the azc rear mount a bit to keep the pinion parallel while holding a desired driveshaft angle.
  7. My thoughts. I agree the old z metal fatique theroy add rust and it just gets worse. The typical aftermarket solid mount is not good. A complete joke really. All that energy on one single fastener, seating nut and or washer. Surface area none. It's amazing the xmember lasts that long. An unbalanced driveline can't help either. Iso mounted to spread the load out is the key. The ron tyler mount rocks. But lets take it a step further if we dare.....Design an incorporated trapping bottom xmember to go along with it. A sound design that could be print documented. Steel fab, oem mod or alum cnc. Great idea for azc or?. I bet it would sell. We modified an oem to do just this and it worked perfect...but to document it for reproduction is another story. If someone pulled it off....Maybe the pinion adjustablity issue with no two cars alike not to mention custom motor swaps might make it impossible to market without mindless people complaining. Often wonder about soild diff mounted rear ends. It's different every time. Some cars I have rode in you can't tell much at all being very quiet and smooth while others sing like a raped bird. Would it be safe to say incorrect DS angles have alot to with vibrations felt once soild mounts are installed? With road miles this to me would cause cracking issues just as much as doing drag style hard launches. Just a thought. I'll shut up now.
  8. Nice ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Z! That is the best altered Z I have seen, way better than the ferrari velarosa
  9. Hey guys besides msa who makes a quality interior carpet replacement of a 240z? Any suggestions or what types? Thank you. Brian
  10. For 2 grand you could buy the all tools to do it yourself. Yes a little practice welding but you would own the tools when your done. Investing in a quality wire feed goes a long way. With the floor pans so thin a good 110v welder would do the trick even if you added in .125 thick frame connectors. Just a thought.

    Comparing Z-Cars

It would be cool to have a sticky thread where all hybridz owners could post car weights regaurdless modifications. No two scales or cars are the same, but it would give a us good feel for what is happening out there in the real world. Just a thought. Brian
  12. I see it as a Z seats two and ZX seats four/jump seat. ZX being the like a 2+2.
  13. Thank you alexideways and NCchris! Very much appreciated.
  14. I think you may need a live axel with all that power. Woah!... Or this trapped from top and bottom.

    Comparing Z-Cars

I have heard the later models make good V8 canidates being built more stronger overall everywhere but heavier. The early Z is the lightest yet a cost to strength.
  16. Ok to ask what is your ride height at the roof top?
  17. Not to hi jack thread so I am sorry and apologize, but I am a bit confused on how the rears fucntion. The drums are just at max inner dia. Does that matter? The parking brake is the adjuster right? So everytime you operate the parking brake it clicks over the adjusters? Think I used to hear that noise in the wheels but it went away a while back. Or does backing up in reverse and applying the brakes do it? Or both? Parking brake not adjusted properly maybe? I'm confused. The car is so basicly light the rears to me seen like they should lock oem. Sorry for ramblins.
  18. Same with my Z the fronts ans stock rears. Rears never do lock up either interesting hmmm. I wish they did. Stock 71 master only difference.
  19. I know and use SW. You could 3Dscan the compartment and SBF parts etc. There are many more details..... but it would be so cool if someone could pull it off. Alot of work to say the least.
  20. Now that's good info to note.
  21. Hi guys I will try to make this short. New skins for the Z. Street car and the roads really suck here in Minnesota. (yaw. you betcha, Fargo da movie, how dumb hehe..) I did a search but could not find exactly what I was looking for. Ok I know there is a vast tire market out there, but real experience is everything, something I have none of in tires. The last ones I bought were $200 a piece and the salesman of the store told me that is as cheap as it gets for tires that particular size. If any of you know what would work for my car your input would be very helpful as I have very little funds. Thank you! Brian Here is the criteria: On the street only. Under 140mph max. Best bang for the buck. Size/All four wheels: 225 45 R17
  22. Oh another item I noticed about the MSA you all might find interesting. When I raised the LCA pivots .75 was as high up as I could go before interfernce with a drilled/bolt in the crossmember for the MSA mount.
  23. Do a Search. LS series engines are common swaps. Some people like the old school V8's of the cars time period.
