  1. Hot Ride! Does that car have the independant rear suspension? Looks like the rear wheel wells have tubs.
  2. Yes all of that is true indeed....I think its going to rock!
  3. Hey Whiteboy, The heads are alum Eldelbrock heads. Angle plugs. Think they are a few years old because that's all they say. Written in the older 'old school' cursive script on the front of the head, drivers side.
  4. Im running msa mounts, hooker long tube headers with angle plug alum heads. Had to "dent" one of the primary tubes to clear a plug. #8 on the passenger side. No big deal the motor runs just fine with more than ample power. Hope maybe this help you.
  5. Just moved them up only .750. Did not move them out. I'm running on the street too. Not sure.... but I think it's very possible to run the stock control arms with some trimming them to clear and fit. Would be great to hear from someone who has done that mod with the stock arms. Anyone?
  6. Finally I finished relocating the LCA pivot points. Here are pics before painting. Raised up .750 Double plates brazed in on each end. Add an inside motor mount brace too. The extra small hole is for the MSA motor mount. Its really close to the pivot so I shaped the outside plates to clear. Inside plate has that hole going through it.
  7. By the time I have everthing done my way..... I'd say 23 grand. Already up to 17 grand and I bought a car someone already spent more money on than what I paid for it...
  8. From my research there is no magic set distance. I'm doing the LCA mod right now and just went up 3/4 inch. That's all I could get before interfernce with the V8 mounts. Have heard of others going .875 to 1". Going out i'm using AZ car adjustable transverse link and caster arms. Reinforcing the caster arm tab to transverse mount for insurance....Never heard of straightening the tie rod ends, interesting... I suppose it depends on your ride height/set up. Two questions do come to mind here though. Would the strength of the tie rod ends be compromised when heated and straighted?? Have not fully drilled yet my LCA holes maybe I will sneak the pivots out too just a bit. Would .375 be ok?? I dont care about racing. I'm on the street scence. Thanks everyone!
  9. If you can't get the sleeve out you could cut a slit in it along its length with a hack saw or die grinder. Get it thin enough before going all the way though then burn out that paper thin section with a oxy/gas torch. The theroy here is to release the compression of the pressed in sleeve. Once you cut into a diameter of a circle its captive strengh is greatly reduced. Also gives you an edge to start the chisel process. Peel the sleeve in towards the center. The torch really works good as you can 'move' selected metal much easier with focused slightly red hot sleeve heatings and then light tappings. Way better than pounding pressing causing damge or distortion to the part you want to save. Here is a typical example of what I am talking about. They used a propane torch which to me is only hot enough to burn the rubber out. Especially if the sleeve is really rusted in place which it just may be. Good luck! Hope this helps. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/suspension/frontcontrolarm/index.html
  10. I had this problem and had to make my own out of billet alum and rubber mountings. These cars are custom but thats whats worth it in the end. I'd post a pic but I can't as of now. Just remember NOT to mount it directly to your frame or it will crack and leak. Yea the junk yard might work, worth a shot at least. Good luck!
  11. I'd say go for the resto. You have the chance then of making it just the way you want it. I have seen people start with much less. Have fun!
  12. Just wait till those idiots nuke us. Then the all these 9/11 'myths' and games will seem insignificant at best.
  13. On a side note..... A true story.....Years ago I had Greenpeace rep stop by my house one day. She actually was a world wide rep very high up as I too saw her on tv sometime later. After letting her inside my home (big mistake) she gave me the greenpeace guilt trip of how I and everyone else was poluting everything. After her half hour long speech basicaly demanded money from me for her cause. She was hot. I just wanted a date but it was getting way beyond that. Finally she was just so pissed I would not give in so she said "what the hell are you going to do about greenpeace." I said you want greenpeace, I'll give you greenpeace beotch. Opened up my garage door and showed her my destroyed 1989 green kawasaki KX250 dirt bike covered with mud, grass and tree brush from last weekends enduro race topped off with a big shiny first place trophy. She was speechless. Like the worst thing she ever saw. You could feel her rage. I busted out laughing so hard then I kicked her out of my house. years for racing....thousands of dollars broken bones along the way, seeing people hurt....painfull and more thousands putting the greenpeace wacko in her place for good.......Priceless!
  14. Why would traction be worse with the LS1? Or any V8 for that matter? I dont see the theroy here. Are you saying I should loose the 280 rear bar in my 240? It seems to work very well but I never tried disconnecting it. Could someday please chime in on this. Thanks.
  15. I like that door and roll cage setup. Do you bend up those tubes up yourself?
