  1. Hey! We're gonna ditch the solid axle on my friend's car and stick in a 240Z rear end, because its track width is similar. So I'm looking for a complete rear suspension assembly, it may be without the struts. Open to offers! Looking for one within the US. Thanks, Alex.
  2. Finally, got a new crank from Japan. So the topic can be close.
  3. Hello. I'd like to buy a new LD28 crankshaft. There were some left in the USA, as well as at Courtesy Parts. But they said that they had failed to find one in the warehouse, so it existed only in the database. About 3 weeks ago there was another crank in California, but it was also bought soon after. So I wonder if someone or some Z shop might have a new LD28 crank. Please, let me know via PM or e-mail. Thank you! Alex.
  4. Hi all! My friend asked me to build an L28 3.1 engine for his Nissan Gloria 330 (JDM cars are more common here). The power that we actually aim is about 300 hp or more, but N/A. He asked me to build a twin-turbo which is a fairly legendary engine, but he has never driven a 300+ hp car, so I brought him home that L28 3.1 N/A would be enough for him and his 330. As a TT-setup would require some lots of mods to the car. I've read the following books, but they actually don't cover the LD28 crank swap and a 3.1 build-up overall. Even if my japanese was better, the L6 book would be still worthless, actually. There are some 3.1 liter built cars overview, basic assembly tips, lots of shop info and complete lack of parts overview. So... 1. Where have all the threads gone? I remember here were a lot of pinned threads with lots of info, but now I can't find any of them. There was a porting thread also... 2. L-series oil pickup modification: does anybody have it done on his L28? I'm going to use Tomei L28 oil pump, just wonder if it makes sense. 3. What's about overheating in the 4th cylinder? Any chance to cure it? Did anybody try drilling steam holes or some stuff? 4. Should I remove the restrictor inside the main oil passage? 5. L28 race type bearings? 6. Actually, I haven't chosen the pistons and the rods yet. I have a spare set of L20 JDM inline-6 rods, but there are some L14 JDM rods which are rare, but are iconic for an L28 3.1. But would they make sense? As for pistons I'm thinking about Kameari. Though some of japanese builders say that Wiseco pistons, ordered by the US Z-club, are the best, though they weigh more and so on. As for carbs, we got 3 dual side-draught carbs with all the stuff on from a 280 hp L28 setup shipped from Japan. I hope someone reads the post and I'll get at least some answers on my questions. Thank you! Alex from Russia.
  5. Ummm... yeah, you are right... probably!.. Found the best VIN table for decoding. translated to english http://www.boserauto.de/index-8.1.11.html'>http://66.196.80.202/babelfish/translate_url_content?.intl=us&lp=ru_en&trurl=http://www.boserauto.de/index-8.1.11.html original http://www.boserauto.de/index-8.1.11.html Looks like Maxima VIN with a typo... tho this VIN is 100% correct as it appears in the police database, but I guess typos are more common, than Zs, especially the one before 1978, when 17-digit VINs were not a standard. So thanks all!
  6. Yup, Micras have VINs beginning with "JN100" but it's only a WMI code and 2 zeros - JN1 = Japan, Nissan, 1 meaning car class here. Micras are disignated as K10, K11 and K12, so I found a VIN for Micra - JN100НК10U0212716. But this means that if a K10 Micra have K10 there then if there is S30, then it might be an S30 Z as well! Guess, I should contact the owner to find out, haha, that would be funny... Anyway thank you!
  7. Hi all! Well, it's a long story but one guy figured out one interested VIN code of a Nissan badged car in our city. He can get its owner info if I'd like to. It is JN100НS30U0206326. Can it be a Z? Thank you!!! p.s. I'm sorry if I've posted it in the wrong forum. And yes, I did some searching and found nothing. All VIN code decoding tables fail after 3 first letters. p.p.s. Might be an S13 as well, as S3 code is used to designate S13 body in modern Nissan tables.
