  1. Im 20, bought my first z when i was 14, 83 ZX for 400 dollars. Completely restored it, painted myself, flipped it Christmas morning 2008. Graduated highschool bought a 78 for 700 dollars. Lit on fire going down the road. FD took 30 min to get to scene, car was toast. Took it home and rebuilt wiring harness all burned motor parts were replaced, head rebuilt. Interior is in works, suspension completely redone, painting is next. Yes, i would say I am a Z car fanatic. I dont see myself ever not having one. I have driven older porshe's tons of preludes and civics, and rx7s rx8s, nothing compares to the amount of fun these cars are. Not even old muscle. Next on my list, rb motor and going to try and put air bags under the car.
  2. It shakes but its hard to tell how much during cruise. Yes i did change the pressure plate to the corresponding one for the disc. And I recently changed the trans mount bushings, have not touch the rear end bushings yet, all ES urethane bushings.
  3. Hey everyone, I have been searching up and down this site looking for the problem and its answer and i just cant find it anywhere. Dont know if i am looking for the same thing but saying it differently but here it is. I put in a centerforce dual friction clutch little over a month ago because the old disc was thought to be going, I got the clutch for a steal too. Car drove great for 2 or 3 weeks then problems rose again. Car was having tons of difficulty going into gear driving, cold and warm. Mainly first and reverse. Reverse started grinding. Two weeks ago, i had no gears when car was on but gears with it off. Replaced all hydraulic system, new MC, SC, and hose, changed old pushrod into new mc, adjusted the pedal all the good stuff. Clutch works now, but not as good as it was before. Today i started it up, drove for 5 or 10 minutes and the entire transmission is shaking when any gear is engaged. When out of gear, no problems. idles good, runs smooth, but in gear its very noticible. When i changed the clutch the throwout bearing was fine, spun freely, i repacked the grease in it. And i cant find this shaking issue. The car is a 5 speed from 78. Orig motor, orig trans, orig all. Any feed back would be great.
  4. Just wanted to know what everyone removes off of the intake manifold when they shave it. So far i have done away with the check valves and the EGR valve. But is there anything else that is unnecessary for it to be a DD? Thanks in advance for the input. I have searched on here and done my research, i know what can be removed, but i dont want to hurt the performance or driveability of the car too much to make it look pretty.
  5. Hey everyone out there. I need some help. Two months back, after restoring my 78 i took it for the second road test, gas leaked out of the fuel filter and some how ignited, took the FD THIRTY minutes to get to my neighborhood where the car was still on fire. I could get the hood up before it got to hot and all i had was someones water hose(they had no idea i was using) to try and keep the flames down. So the entire engine bay burned, wires, hoses, plugs, battery, etc. I had an 83 ZX that i had flipped, literally not metaphorically, with the engine still running strong. So instead of just fixing the Z motor im gonna put this one back in. I have the new harness for a 78, but i dont know all the parts and little things i will need to change it out to make it a perfect fit. If anyone out there knows anything or has done this please help. I have some parts i got from a parts guy on craigslist, not looking for new parts or performance. I want it mostly stock first. Thanks!
