  1. I've been following this thread for a while hoping for a budget solution for paint. I just picked up some of the rustoleam "stops rust" in the smoke gray color that im gonna spray using a cheapie harbor freight hvlp gun. Has anyone determinned whats best to thin it with, mineral spirits or acetone? Has anyone experimented with any different kinds of clear coat? Hopefully i'll find time to spray a couple test panels tomorow, ill post some pics when i do
  2. has anyone done a comparison of the different primer/rust prevention paints? -rust bullet -zero rust -eastwood encapsulator -por-15 It would be nice to have some opinions as to the pros and cons of each.
  3. i cant seem to find much info on n/a builds here. I want to get some decent power out of my L28, maybe somewhere in the range of 180-190rwhp plus a 100 shot nitrous. I'm looking for any suggestions to get there, i'd also be curious in hearing about all your guy's n/a l28 setups.
  4. Im wondering If these floor rails are necessary, I have plans to weld in some sub frame connectors and since one of the floor support rails is already rusted through could i just remove them and replace with subframe connectors???
  5. I'm wondering how well these rust products compare to each other, through reading through many posts here it looks like there are a few that you guys like; por-15, eastwood, rust bullet, rust mort, zero rust, OSPHO(spellcheck), the only areas on my 78 that seem to have developed rust are the trunk latch area, the bottom of the door, and one frame rail. My only concern is i do not want to end up putting money down on a decent paint job to see it rust through in a year or two.
  6. just wondering if i bought a beat up old rusted early 70s (emissions exempt) z car from the junkyard could i swap vin numbers.... i know this might sound like fraud, but what is the basis of the vin number, its the chassis, correct? so by mixing some parts from an earlier z car, maybe even welding in some of the frame, technically the car would be both my 78 280z and the earlier z donor car... so which vin number would be the correct one... and more importantly if swapping over the vin numbers correctly, how hard would it be for them to catch me?
