  1. has not set their status

  2. People voted for change. So change they get. The only problem is that the people elected think that the Hummer is better for the USA and enviroment then something like a Pontiac.
  3. Does any one know of a source for new Inner Rocker Panels. I am not sure if that is the correct name for the panel but it is the on the inside of the car at the bottom of the door frame. Thanks Wayne
  4. Hey, that was a super thread. Thanks for the info. I'll make some call tomorrow. Wayne
  5. Thanks a bunch, that really helps. Below are a few other pics of some of the rust issues. Thanks again. Wayne
  6. After a long delay, I am getting back to restoring my 78 280Z. The car has already been stripped and is ready for rebuilding. There is serious rust in several places that needs to be cut out and replaced with new metal. I already have (but not installed) new floor pans, rails rocker panels, front and rear quarter panels. The panel on the rear of the car below the deck lid is badly rusted and needs replacement. Is there a source for replacement panels or do you know of someone who can fabricate one.
  7. I may be wrong, but I thought the stock timing for an 82 ZXT motor was 20 Deg. I don't have a FSM for the 82 turbo motor that I put in my 78 280Z, but I did see 20 Deg as the spec in the AutoZone.com web site. Could someone with a FSM comfirm if this is correct? Thanks
  8. Anyone know if Jeg's runs this rebate in the Fall or is a Spring or Summer deal only. Thanks
  9. Sorry to ask dumb questions, but this is my first experience with turbos. Does the stage 3 turbine wheel replace the wheel that is in the stock T3 or does it require and different housing or unit.
  10. I have the 82 turbo ECU, harness, fuel pump and most of the sensors. Plan is to get it running correctly in stock form first. Then add boost gage, manual boost controller, and start to tweak. I have stock 82 down pipe and will have to buy/build exhaust to back of car. Hopefully 3" pipe. Hope to get to 325 - 350 RWHP at some point and plan on adding megasquirt, WB 02 and better fuel pump along the way. I don't want to get to far ahead of my self. Right now I need to just get everthing into the car and get it running.
  11. Guys, I'm getting closed on dropping an 82 ZXT motor into my 78 280Z. I got a little carried away in "cleaning up" the ZXT motor and ended up doing a complete rebuild. The stock t3 turbo had a little to much play in it so my brother is going to rebuild it for me where he works and has the proper equipment. He works for a heavy equipment dealer and rebuilds CAT motors and turbos. My question is where can I get rebuild kits for the stock T3 turbo? Without knowing the cost of rebuilding a stock turbo, is there somethign else I should consider like applying the cost of a rebuild toward the purchase price of some bigger turbo. Thanks
  12. So how do we find out if the knock sensor is disabled at 3,500 RPM? Is there someplace that explains the logic used by the ECU?
  13. The links to the web sit with Grainger valve boost controller part numbers is not working. Does someone else have the information or is there another site. Thanks Wayne
  14. Guys, Expecting delivery of a 82 ZX turbo motor very soon to drop into my 78 280Z. After I get the motor up and running correctly in stock (ZXT) configuration, I will want to start playing with the boost to get more power. I am new to turbo power so I have a lot of learning to do. So what do I need to buy/modify to increase the stock ZXT boost of 6 to 7 PSI to something like 8 to 10 PSI. Which boost controllers work well with the Z's. I don't think I need anything real fancy , like driver adjustable boost on the fly, to start with. Hoping for your collective wisdom to help me get started right. thanks Wayne
  15. I would be interested as well. Expecting delivery, in the next week or so, of a 82 ZX turbo motor to put into my 280Z. What is the advantage of using the ECU out of a Z31 (300ZX) over an ECU from a 280 ZX. In the future when I try to get more HP I plan on having to go to MS or something because of limitations of the 280 ZX ECU. Would your set up with Z31 ECU eliminate the need for MS.
  16. Thanks for the info. I am in Lexington, KY Any good machine shop in Louisville that do a lot of work on Z's ? Wayne
  17. Getting ready to drop an 82 ZX turbo motor, ECU and wiring harness into a 78 280Z. Do I need the ZXT fuel pump and relays as well or should I buy a new walbro 255 pump instead. My main concern is with the relays and wiring harness hookup and having the conversion go as easy as possible. Thanks Wayne
