Can anyone help? I tried to post the last dyno results in my gallery and upload them (someone has to teach me how) to the forum. There's a message that tells me my gallery is too big, and I need to down size some photos for more space. I tried to edit my gallery, but no luck. Can someone guide me thru the process? I would really like to post the last dyno results for your opinions. Thanks in advance

I'll try to answer Tim, Clifton's, and Scottie's questions here.. With the smaller a/r ratio on the exhaust side of the turbo, I wanted to see if the turbo would spool sooner. I was under the impression that since the boost is coming on late I'm either running out of engine or the turbo is not sized correctly. If the numbers change for the worst, I could always put it back the way it was. Clif, I don't remember what the a/r ratio on the turbo was, I purchased it almost 2 1/2 years ago and I don't have the sheet that came with it from Turbonetics. I'll have them take a look and let you know with an update. I'll also try to get the AFR #'s and post them too and see if the tuner can factor in the corrections on the dyno. Scottie, I'll try your advice to see if I disconnect the exhaust at the point where the 2 meet and try to redyno. I'll also see if we could do a 4th gear pull too, which I don't see it as a problem since I've seen them done before in the shop. I thought you needed some type of backpressure with these engines to create torque? If I'm wrong, please let me know. It's hard to find a nice exhaust with out going custom and paying for it thru the nose. I would like at some point to change it out to 3" all around, but the exhaust I find ideal is the HKS dual dragger exhaust they had on the Supras at one point in time. I just love that set up, but can't seem to find it around anymore. If I come across one, I would definitely go that route. Gents, thanks again for all the input. Your posts are greatly appreciated.

OK....Capped off the factory pop off valve and re tried the dyno. Same HP results. Did a little more tuning, and raised the boost to 24 lbs, and came up with 345 HP / 320 torque. Looked at the dyno curve and noticed that boost was coming on later in the 3000 rpm range and was topping off at around 5500, which led myself and the tuner to believe that the exhaust housing on the turbo was too large in size to create boost at a lower rpm range. We will try installing a smaller a/r exhaust housing to see if we can get the car to spool sooner. Will update you when finished.

The block is a stock block w/ an HKS 1mm metal head gasket. I do have ARP fasteners for the head. The intake was modified by Corky Bell who used to own/work at Texas turbo some many moons ago. It's actually very nice. My pics are posted on the photo section of the forum for anyone to view. I would appreciate comments or suggestions. Thanks to all. Rob

Lets see what I can remember Haltech E6K enging management, Turbonetics T60-1 Ceramic Ball Bearing Turbo, Cartech Intercooler & blow off valve, 12 injectors 6 primary-6 secondary staged, mild port and polish head, TEP throttle body, HKS cam, MSD 7AL2 Ignition amp w/ MSD 8251 ignition coil, Aeromotive fuelpump, fuel pressure regulator w/ 2 direct feeds to injector rail w/ seperate returns, HKS EVC Pro, Tial 38mm wastegate w/ 1 bar spring, 3" downpipe into 2.5" HKS exhaust I think that's it...

Fellow Z buffs. The shop where my Z is being worked on finally finished the fuel system, and it was dyno time. Here are the results: 1st run: 1.0 bar. 237hp / 243 lb/ft torque 2nd run: 18lbs boost 284 hp / 282 lb/ft torque 3rd run: 21lbs boost 315hp / 310 lb/ft torque That was it for Saturday. Should I be estatic? After all the mods, I thought I would be somewhere around 400hp, but I guess I'll settle for what I have. The tuning was done on 112 octane race gas. The Haltech was on the money with the exhaust. Clean, no lean or rich condition. I wanted to try bumping the boost to at least 25lbs, maybe 28 once I get the EVC dialed in right. Any advice? I do have a HKS metal head gasket, and ARP head bolts, so I'm not worried about having a little too much, but I don't want to break anything. What to do? Thanks to all who will reply.. Rob

I think you should upgrade fuel delivery, intake and throttle body, injector size, intercooler, turbo and an electric fan to lessen drag. I haven't seen pics of your set up on the green z, but the set up sounds nice. I'm currently running a Haltech E6K, 12 injectors-staged, T60-1 Turbo, Intercooler, MSD 7AL2 w/ a 8251 Coil. I have an high flo fuel pump with a pressure regulator splitting into 2 individual lines for the 12 injectors, then back to 1 return to the tank. Any little you'll do will eventually turn into alot, as you may already know, and I have been down that road many a time. Do you want to do something different with one car vs the other? I'd try something different. Good luck.. My .02 -

Tial 38mm Wastegate or Turbonetics Racegate (42mm)
81280zxtc replied to 81280zxtc's topic in 6 Cylinder Z Forums
Fellow Z buffs, thanks for the advice. I'll probably try the Tial gate, and if I'm not happy, I can always E-bay it. As for the Turbonetics gate, I'll wait to see reviews about the new gate before I become a guinnea pig, besides that gate is around $600.00 and alot of $$$ to spend on a gate. I'll post a follow up with the gate install and let you know how it went. Thanks again... Robert
