  1. I will soon be making a trip to the powder coater and plating shops and I'm not sure which way to go on a few parts. Here is my list: Powder Coat: ------------- Control arms, crossmembers, sway bars, struts, tension links, moustache bar, misc other suspension parts other than bolts, metal part of steering column in the engine bay Plate: ----- All fasteners, washers, tow hook, striker plates, door hardware, hood latch, door latch, hatch latche and dovetails, hood prop rod, hood hinges and rods, misc brackets from inside the engine compartment, washer nozzles Paint: ----- Differential - I don't want to take it apart just to powder coat it Motor and tranny mounts - rubber ????: ----- Drive line Steering Rack Transmission I'd be curious to hear what other members have done. Thanks in advance...

  3. Took them 4 months almost to get me a catalog - wasn't happy with that. Ordered some interior parts, got them quickly, good quality. Haven't had any other problems. I'll order more stuff from them because certain items (240 parts) are unavailable new elsewhere.
  4. Just bought a sub 3500 VIN 240Z - no real rust, complete, one little dent. Car has been sitting for many years. Needs interior... Arizona is bad on plastic but great for no rust! Got it for $400 if you can believe that. I'm stoked.
  5. ... and the disadvantages of this would be...? Too late anyway, I have purchased it for $200. This will be a street car, not a quarter miler. I plan on an getting a 400hp or so LS1. Need halfshafts, though. Any idea where I could find them? thanx in advance...
  6. I just got this on Ebay: "viscous R200 LSD out of a 88 nissan 300zx SS turbo (anniversery model). It has 3.70 gear ratio." Is this diff good up to 450hp? My understanding from searching is that this will bolt right up to my 72 240. I plan on getting the billet aluminum moustache bar from ArizonaZcar. Does anybody know where I can get the halfshafts for this diff? thanx in advance...
  7. Is the VIN stamped on the block somewhere? I havent found it but I'm not sure where on the block to look. Trying to determine if I have the original motor. Found it on the firewall, shock tower, dash, and inside drivers door on the pillar. thanks in advance
  8. Arizona emissions only require it to pass at the tailpipe for vehicles 1974 and before - no visual. 1968 and before not even that. My 2cents.
  9. I have searched the archives (very old posts), but I don't see any links or names of companies that sell this hardware. What I'm looking for is a combo alarm and door solenoid. Prefferably something with the spring that kicks the door open (if such an animal exists). Has anyone done this recently? I figure I'll leave my rear hatch lock alone so I can get in to open the door if the battery goes dead. Any info appreciated.

  11. I am purchasing a lightly rusted (surface only) 72 240Z unibody. The plan is widebody fiberglass, suspension mods and 450 hp. Redi-strip will dip the unibody for $500-$600. The price doesn't concern me, but I have heard stories of leftover chemicals eating thru paint. Redi-strip will phosporus coat the body - has anyone had experiences with this (good/bad)? thanks in advance

  13. I just bought a 72 240Z no engine or trans and plan to do a Chevy smallblock/5 speed manual conversion. From the posts I've read, the R230 from a Q45 is the ticket for the rearend. I've read that the earlier Q45s had the R200. When I call the salvage yards, of course they want to know what year I need. Anybody know which year(s) had the larger R230? Also, will I need the third member from the Q? Any other tips on the swap would be appreciated.
