ok so i found a z31 ss but the guy down the street doesnt want to part it out =( so i was thinking about just buying the car and parting it out. dont know the demand on these parts the guy wants 800 for it and its salvage title. lmk what you guys think. to me i would be taking the only part of interest to get my money back. but then again i dont know the market value for these parts. i can also get a 87 turbo lsd for 400 but however from what ive read there is a lot of debate on which one is better vlsd from the ss or the clsd from the regular turbos. so lmk what you guys think.

oh ok so the info ive been reading from other sites must be unreliable which is good to know. ill stick to this site from now on. and so since its not lsd both wheels wont spin in the same direction when off the ground correct? and when you mean direct bolt on you mean the unit itself will go into the r200 casing? sorry for the newbness im trying guys. lol

wow that was fast. thanks for the info man. sooo without getting flamed lol i know the from what i red the R200s are almost indestructible but if there not lsd why do people say this is the best swap for the car? and to add to that why do people say that both wheel spin in the same direction? i thought only lsds did that???

so im new to this site and dont really know that much on how to navigate. i have looked through and read the pined topics on this in the drivetrain section and used the sites search bar and have used google as well. so let it be known since apparently this site is big on flaming newbs or so i hear. i am trying to locate a r200 lsd for my step dads 72 240z and did some research and found all this out. http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/R200.htm http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/GearRatios.html http://webspace.webring.com/people/ui/inverse/diffswap.html in the links i have provided i still have questions that are unclear. 1) in the 80 280ZX (2X2) MT and 81-83 non-turbo MT 280ZX's did they all come with r200's or was it a dealer option (did they come with different diffs)? 2) what type of lsd is it? looking at it the diff looks like its an open diff. and in the 280Zx'S that i have found in the junk yards both wheels dont spin the same direction so are they supposed too? or is that for CLSD? 3) the "half shafts" that i keep reading about are going to be different on the donor with the r200 and can be taken out and the regular ones from a older zx is the ones i would want right? some ppl say i need a adapter and some ppl say the older gens will work. 4) i found a 86 turbo Z31 and was wondering if that would work or if a 300zx r200 would work the same as a 280zx r200 as long as i get the mustache bar from the older 280zx. 5) do they always have fins for the back cover? ok and a fyi i really tried to get all the info i could. im only 17 and havent been working on cars for my whole life. just looking for some help. so please if u comment and i have missed something from this research let me know. and do they really look like this with the back open?

lol theres a lot of scrutiny on this thread lol i was just curious and it seemed different and the s14 and s13s are a whole lot cheaper for a dash than a s30 dash. but i picked up a s30 dash just about a hour ago for an id say not too bad of a price of $220 which i guess is great for a uncracked one seeing how ppl tried selling me theres for 650 and 350 plus shipping. which is way too much for me. which is why i was also interested in the dash swap. lol but i got my question answered indeed thanks every1.

oh ok thanks thats what i was looking for i just thought i remember seeing somewhere that only certain years were different. and really an s13 or s14 dash? is there any pics of this on this site? that would be interesting to see.

i was wondering what year dashboards can work for my 71 s30? and how can i tell the difference between the one that would work?
