  1. It's been a pretty tough few months for me....Lost my good paying job..had to take a massive pay cut and move across the country.

Benefit is that I have alot more free time.

It seems that it has been discussed on many forums but never achieved..that I know of. But with the help of a whole bunch of reference drawings and photos, I have started to do a reasonably accurate CAD model of the 240z.

Here is a teaser of the first step:

  2. Hey Guys,

I have done some searching, and did find some mention of this but no definitve answer.

What are the differences between the 240z and 260z (Australian, same as '76 280z) front hubs? I was looking through a brake cataloge and a 240z rotor has a height of 52mm, whereas a 260z rotor has a height of 43.5mm.

Are the 260Z hubs thicker? or are they just a different offset?

I ask this question because Ross offers aluminium front hubs (5x4.5) but they match the 240Z geometry. What is going to change on my car if I was to use these?

  3. Caliper Specifications:

Sorry for the late relay I had problems getting images loaded, if you need any more let me know,

Also if some one can confirm the E: mesurment for the S13W please I estimate it at 65mm but I want to be sure?

If any one is interested I maybe selling these as I can get a rotor to fit under these yet, but still looking

NOTE: This is a Toyota setup.

Interesting. You said you can fit 298mm discs with this setup?

What year Jag are the calipers? I'd be interested in purchasing them for sure.

  4. Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone that had a centre-dash guage from a 280z (not clock) laying around that they could measure up for me?

I want to know the diameter of the shroud of the closest to the guage face, see attached picture.

When I did it last time (left the measurements at home with the car). I took the small screws off the back of the guage and the needle and face assembly came away. With vernier calipers I was able to take the dimension.

    Cheers.

  5. Don't worry, Bo, you WILL live to regret that invitation. Just ask Jim. LOL That red wire to the fuel pump relay makes him twitch every time he sees it. he's coming over tonight for a bbq with his wife and I would bet good money he'll HAVE to head out to the garage and do something about that wire. hahaha

One of the reasons I considered a tuner is because I thought they were expert technicians. My conversations with 2 or 3 changed that opinion in a hurry. At least when it comes to Wolf and L28s. In fairness to them, Calgary is full of Vettes, Porsches, Bimmers, etc and that's where these guys make their living. None of them had heard of Wolf...except for one guy, who thought it was JWT. LOL

Anyhoo, since taking the car to a tuning shop is out of the question, then I guess I am the tuner. Better roll up my sleeves and get at it. :0)

    Hey Bud,

I'm currently working out Brooks way, but do make it to calgary almost every second weekend. I spent alot of time playing tuner with the V500 on our FSAE car this year. If you run into any issues I would be happy to come help you out.

  6. I can't really answer your question man, but I would try calling SportMax Racing (ensure wheel) and see if they can fax you a spec sheet or something!

    Contacting Ensure Wheel

are XXR and Ensure the same company?

I guess I'll give them a call and see how I go.

  7. Finley got the new V500 box, and WB02 box (witch happens to be wb02 2j1 from Tech Edge)

The firmware seems too updated and the V500 software is also updated (ver 5.00.75) I have not had a chance to hook it up yet but as soon as I do I will let you know………:confused2

    Single Channel per Controller. :(

  8. Yes, I was informed WB functionality is ready.

I have some questions on implementation so we're discussing details.

I'm waiting for Robbie to get back, I think he's away for a few days!

Now that I have information from him, my *new* racing team is working towards some pretty cool stuff with the wolf hopefully.

Although I'm no longer on an Australian team!

  9. If you want to learn more about RS-232 signaling standard, you can start hear:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RS-232

If you are looking for a definition of the protocol that runs over the RS-232 interface on the V500, I don't think that AEM will release this proprietary information. If you have a lot of extra time on your hand, you can figure it out with a scope or RS-232 protocol analyzer.

I'm very familliar with the RS-232 signalling standard iteself.

I'm looking for the packet structure that runs over the bus from the wolf. I don't think they would class it as proprietary information, we managed to get motec to send us the datasheet for thier packet structure, we just had to ask. Which by the way would be a huge pain in the ass to reverse engineer, its like a 168 byte string.

I sent them an e-mail, they never got back to me.

  10. Ron,

Since you seem to have a good relationship with WolfEMS perhaps you could ask for some documentation on the data singnalling that they use over RS232 port on the ECU?

I've attempted to contact them several times to no avail.

    Cheers

  11. Got mine:

    pictures

I think everyone would be appreciative if you could get a cad made up of this. If the knowledge was free for people to use it would lead the way in more vh conversions.

Also, can you please verify for me. that the sliver bolts (which i assume are for attaching through the bellhousing are not directly thread into the ally. But instead have some sort of steel boss pressed in or at the very least a helicoil.

  12. Hey,

I'm trying to find some wheels for my Z and after thoroughly searching this website, there is information about, but it comes in bits and peices.

So, I thought i'd obtain some measurements and create a calculator that people can use, so instead of people asking over and over again.

"Will these wheels fit under my guards"

They will have a resources to determine if they will. By putting in width, size, Offset of thier rim. Then making tyre size recommendations. With adjustement options such as flares or smaller OD struts (eg coilovers)

Unfortunatley I'm at college at the moment and My Z is on the other side of the country (along with my FSM and other books), so I cant obtain measurements. So I was wondering if I could convince some people to provide me with some measurements.

I would like measurements to be from stock cars (ride height mainly), If you are running something different let me know.

    Rears:

    OD of stock Spring

    length of strut

length of widest part of strut (spring, spring seat)

Angle of strut from horiz or vertical, your choice.

    Angle of A-Arm from horiz.

    Depth of wheel tub

Radius of edge of wheel tub (think of wheel tub as a toroid)

    Radius of outer body arc.

Hub surface to furthest outer body point (top of body flare)

Centrepoint difference between hub centre and outer body flare.

That should give me enough info to do a sketch and come back with some more requests.

    Your involvement would be appreciated.
