  1. I know other people have had this problem with oil pressure... let me assure you that i have read alot of other post on this issue... for starters, im using a 240 head (e88) and a 280zxt block (f54) with flat top pistons, new oil pump from 280zx that does pull oil when the shaft is spun (just saying that so you know that plth pump does work), new rings, gaskets, new valve stem seals, reseated the valves, etc...etc... have primed the oil pump and filter... my question is this, has anyone had this problem after trying to get pressure after doing that? I have been reading about using a drill to prime the oil passages and I understand how but I'm trying to find out the best/most efficient way of connecting something to the shaft... My thought is to use a spare shaft and remove the gears that spin off of the crank and somehow connect it to the shaft (most likely using a spare distributors lower half then spin it with the drill.... How have people in the past done this? And also I'm using the 240z distributor and shaft for now because I know they both worked before the rebuild... Don't see how it could effect anything because both the distributor and pump are spinning.... I'm not getting any oil from the pressure gauge hole or from the oil filter stud after the priming and turning it over
  2. you really have.. thank you and good luck on the job hunt
  3. did your number look like this? 7Z07673 i found this number around the edge of the bell housing... i can not find a number anywhere else on the transmission besides the one i told you about earlier
  4. right on man.. thanks a lot!! how did your rebuild go?
  5. im sorry.. what numbers are you talking about that you gave them? not understanding...
  6. ok... but what year? the rebuild kits are different between the years 79-80 and 80-83
  7. i have a 1973 240z that i bought and now the transmission (5th gear) is not working... not a big problem.. i know that this transmission is not the factory one bc its not a 4 speed... when i dropped the trans it had 280zx sport written on the outside with a marker... so here is my main question.. how do i know what rebuild kit to buy for it? i understand that there are two different types besides the borg warner and i know that its not that... the only thing i can find is #5-10-31 that was put on there when it was made... any ideas guys?
  8. thanks guys... i will post what i have hopefully tonight or tomorrow... i pulled the rear end out of the 280zxt 3 days ago (about to upgrade it a bit) and just pulled the trans out of my 240z (5sp out of a 280zx N/A)... 5th gear not engaging at all like its in neutral... oh the fun!
  9. i have been reading on a lot of websites and some of them tell me that the 83 280zx turbos all came with R200s but then other websites tell me that only the manual trans came with them and the car i pulled it from is an automatic trans... i am not a z guru yet (haha) but i have pulled it out and can not tell if it is what i want it to be... an R200.... so what is this.. ok... well i can not figure out how to put the picture in... lol.. need help there also!!!
  10. i am in the process of swapping an l28et into my 1973 240z with the diff and rear end for the disc breaks etc... you all know the normals taken from a donar car... details about my cars... 1973 240z stock with a 5sp (zx) trans.. i bought it this way so do not know what that trans came from... the 83 280zxt is completly stock with a manual trans... so my question starts here... can i use the drive shaft from the auto turbo or do i stick with the one thats in my 240? i know that there is a difference in size with the turbos but is there going to be a length issue with one or the other or both? any input would be great guys... thanks
