  1. I can try using my stiffer actuator and maybe that would help out. As far as the spec II having the dipswitches like the spec I, it does not. It has port hole for internal or external on the boost selenoid, thats about it. Overboost has a pressure decrease when set to a certain value but it only goes to 20%. I seem to have it set a little better now but I would like to have it right. The only thing I can try is maybe shortening the lines even more or swapping the actuator.
  2. I bought this ebc about a week ago .. I've read the book and tried many various options to control my low boost setting and I just can't get it. I want my low boost to be 10lbs .. I can get the control to hold 10 psi until I hit the upper rpms and then it will just creep all the way up to around 14lbs or a little higher. I have tried to set my gain from 0-20 .. I have put the warning feature on at 14 lbs of boost with a 20% decrease. The thing I don't understand is no matter how low I turn it.. The boost will not fall off like the book says it will if the gain it too low etc. I have not messed around with the high boost too much but it seems to hold well with maybe a 1 psi creep. I tried to set the high boost for 18 lbs and it spike to 22 which I just need to mess with the settings for spiking. A 15 psi test and it seemed to hold pretty good. I just don't understand the low boost problem. I am running the stock spring / actuator and without any line controller the boost will go to 7 right away and be at 9 by 5,500 - 6,000 rpm. I had a manual homemade boost controller on and at 15 lbs it would hold rock solid. Maybe I can set the low boost a little higher than 10 and it will solve it?? If someone has any idea or can share their settings, I would really appreciate it.
  3. You see Cody? There are many ways of doing things, I was just suggesting a wise plan if he is going for more than 300hp.
  4. Interesting you say that.. this is my second Felpro replacement gasket. The next time it goes I will have the manifold spec'd and try the Nissan OEM gasket. Thanks for the advice.
  5. I honestly never had the manifold checked for straightness, I think it may be off and causing these problems. Good point, I was thinking this a while ago when the gasket blew from the number 6 runner which is usually the one that determines the manifold is warped.
  6. Supposively 300 hp is where it will max out around, meaning it reaches the max voltage of 5.2 volts and it will not exceed that. I don't know if the car will continue to make power or not but if you are going for over 300 you would want to look into a z32 or cobra one. Sure you are thinking well if it works why change it, well it probably isn't reading anything above the max flow so it has no compensation on anything, sure you are making more power but it wont do anything different from 300rwhp - to lets say the 350rwhp you did. That's not good at all especially if you want to tune and be safe. The only other thing besides the ecu that will help with fuel even if you are maxing out the afm is the fpr which the turbo ones or aftermarket usually run on a 1:1 ratio meaning for every lb of boost it will throw an extra lb of fuel.
  7. Keep in mind .. I am sure someday you will want bigger than the 260cc injectors that the z31 ecu runs on ..(even though you have a rrfpr) so I would suggest that you find an 88-89 turbo computer because those are the only reprogrammable ones. The timing is going to be a little different at idle but the actual timing under boost is set pretty safe and the ecu def runs wayy rich under boost.. it will get as low as 10.8 even on stock cars. It is a lot more effecient ecu than the 280. The z31 afm is going to max out around 300 hp .. so you might want to look into a 93 cobra afm or a z32 afm which the ecu would have to be modified to run. The detonation sensor will no longer work on your car but that is not a big deal. I am just breaking some things down for you. I run the 89 turbo computer on my car with the 93 cobra afm and have no problems with it. My friend reprograms and tunes ecu's so it's pretty easy to do whatever I want.
  8. I was able to rethread it without pulling everything entirely apart. All new bolts are going on with some thread lock. The hayness calls for torque to be at 14 lbs so that's what it's going to be.
  9. Well I have a pretty modified l28et and it seems that the exhaust manifold gives nothing but trouble. As soon as the new motor was built it ran great and then after a few months I heard extremely loud ticking.. looked over everything besides the exhaust manifold later to find out that it was totally loose and leaking. So I drive it for a month or two and the gasket goes which the car ran horrible and barely built any boost etc. Ok so I clean the surface buy a new gasket and spray it with copper. It runs great for a little and then begins to tick again so I tighten all the bolts and it's ok .. for some reason I don't understand why the bolts become loose so quick. I mean it needs to be tighten about every 2 weeks or so. It's ridiculous. A few days ago I hear it ticking again and today I go to retighten them.. well all of them are good besides one I come across.. I put the wrench on it and the nut just spins and so I go (wow it's really loose) I keep turning it and come to find out the thread hole on the head is shot. Does everyone experiece the manifold always giving trouble and if so is there a good solution to this. A friend of mine said I can put stainless steel helicoils in and buy butter bolts and it should never have problems again. He mentioned the stock bolts suck and the the head being aluminum tightening them so much (which needs to be done for the fact of it being loose all the time ) will strip easily. I am pretty pissed off at this car If anyone has advice or personal experiences please post them.
  10. Here are all 5 graphs: http://www.ibconceptions.com/z/upload/280zxt/mini-280z%201.jpg http://www.ibconceptions.com/z/upload/280zxt/mini-280z%202.jpg http://www.ibconceptions.com/z/upload/280zxt/mini-280z%203.jpg http://www.ibconceptions.com/z/upload/280zxt/mini-280z%204.jpg http://www.ibconceptions.com/z/upload/280zxt/mini-280z%205.jpg
  11. Ok thanks.. ^^^ I edited my last post.
  12. Hey Clifton do you know why it is you supposively cannot run an aftermarket cam on the p90a hydraulic head? I just don't see why not .. I was looking into purchasing a schneider cam or one custom made by isky using Z-Gad's specs. I can get access to another head but which would work well with an aftermaket cam? I know there is a 280zx turbo at the junkyard but not exactly sure which head is on it ( Havn't been out there yet ) I remember someone mentioning needing a oil spray bar with a different cam?? BTW all 5 dyno graphs will be up shortly.. waiting for a friend to host them. So you will be able to see all my power curves and maybe give advice.
  13. I am missing no point, I mentioned my turbo is starting to come alive around 18 psi and the T3's are maxing out around there. I wasn't mentioning anything about any formula.
  14. Take into account all these people putting down really big numbers on the T3 are maxing it out. My turbo isn't waking up until around 18 lbs..
  15. I am using the stock actuator right now. I have another one that is a 14 lb spring in my garage I plan on putting on. I will try to get the graphs up later. My dad is suppose to scan them for me at his job. I took the highest hp number / torque numbers when I say I got 270 / 322. Pretty much for the reason changes were made on the dyno with my laptop and saved.. so I have the ecu setup to preform how it did on certain runs with the changes. The highest hp on one solid run was 270 / 305 .. then another with less hp and 322 ft lbs.. I'll post up later.
  16. Your Hp seems ok but your torque seems very low.. I am running around the same setup yet out of all 5 graphs my highest hp was 270 / 322 torque on about 16psi 93 octane. I am sure you seen my thread and maybe we can help each other out. I know you talk to my friend Bryant (Stinky) a lot about tuning due to the fact of him messing with the z31 ecu's a lot. He is the one that is helping me right now.. If you have aol instant messenger hit me up at Hallucinationed1.
  17. Yes, I am running the JWT map. A friend of mine is helping me tune it and change certain things.. we are still messing around with it.
  18. Thanks guys! I'll keep everyone updated as far as changes and gains. When I was dynoing the car is sounded like a loud blast of air as if the blow off valve is leaking or the turbo is surging (The motor started to shake) I am not exactly sure as of yet, I am going to see if switching the actuator signal line helps, I had problems in the past due to where it was at.
  19. Does anyone know if their is a cam upgrade for the P90A without having to make it a solid lifting head? I have heard the N/A cam will net a little bit of power but how true that is on the l28et I am unsure of (Yes, I understand that the n/a cam is a little bit more agressive) If that is the case could you just put the N/A cam into the P90a without any problems.. any information or experiences appreciated. I am just looking to get some more power.
  20. I really wasn't watching the gauge much on the dyno the whole time being I dynoed the car myself a few times and then was trying to set the manual boost controller while the dyno was being preformed. I plan to get a nice electronic boost controller and switch to my 14 lb spring wastegate ( I am running the stock 7lb actuator) I also need to figure out what is causing this very loud surging sound and maybe robbing some power. So far it just seems to blow off valve is leaking boost .. I dunno forsure yet
  21. The dynos were preformed on a dynojet. I was expecting a lot more power as well but the way the car was pulling I guessed around what it put down. 270whp and 322 ft / lbs is still not bad. I was thinking it would be over 300 on those type of boost levels but there is still more things needed to be done as well as playing with the timing on certain levels. I really didn't get any pinging but I thought the boost was high enough for the day. Anyone have any similar setups with timing tips .. or any recommendations for gains? Tuesday I plan to go find some electric fans, heat wrap the downpipe / intercooler cold side and a few other small things but nothing major until I have enough for an alcohol injection kit.
  22. These yahoo briefcases are pissing me off.. I'll get them hosted whenever possible on a friends site. Sorry guys
  23. Thanks! I plan to switch to electric fans and install an alcohol injection kit soon..I will be happy with 300 or 300+
