Im looking to only run the alternator and water pump with my Ls1 was Not using power steering or air conditioning was wondering if anyone else had run a ls1 like this and could advise blet length or idlers i might need to fit to make it work alternator will be in std position Be great if someone could advise who makes short belts or idlers needed to make this happen Thanks Mick
  4. the later motors come with fuel injection good luck with doing the motor up guys i had my fun with the y44 std for 12 years but have had enough of having to machine or find something that will fit bought a Ls1 last week pulling the nissan v8 out soon will keep watching to see how much hp you get from one one problem ive had and hope u dont or maybe find a fix for is the motor seems to have some sort of in built rev limiter hits 5500 rpm and dies done it since i got it done every thing from electronic ignition new coils fuel pumps two holley carbs still does it seems to want to rev harder but wont if you want and specific shots of engine in car before i pull it ot drop me a line Mick

Hi guys finally got my ls1 now i realise the aussie version has the sump or deep part to the front of the oil pan From what I have found is the camaro the best oil pan for this conversion (into a 240z) any idea cost of a second hand Oil Pan to suit one in USA Any recomended places in the USA to buy one Thanks Mick
  6. thanks for the replys think ill go with the cable x and try doing the wiring loom myself just try and locate a wiring diagram for the ls1 loom thanks Mick
  7. hi have looked through search but cant find any direct answers have 2 questions at the moment 1 those who have done the ls1 conversion who has modified the std wiring loom on engine to connect the 6 wires u need to the datsun loom and who has paid to have wiring loom modified to have wires marked and ste up connection 2 Speedo im running tremec t56 std box behind my ls1 just wondering what diiferent approaches where used to hook up speedo am looking at the Jtr mod or maybe a interface box or maybe fit an electronic speedo to my speedo housing and put std face on it got to ask this does anyone know of a ls1 powered 240z in Australia kind like thinking i might be the first Thanks for looking finding heaps of info on site its a great site Mick

  9. hi quick question have looked through search but cant find answer hoping someone can tell me i have 96 t56 with flywheel and clutch which i believe was mounted to a lt1 which was to be my choice engine but have just bought a ls1 so my question is will the t56 bolt to the ls1 or do i need to buy a tremec to suit the ls1 thinking it may be easier to sell the t56 and buy tremec hoping someone can answer this for me thanks mick
  10. luv the sound of a 4 rotor and agree it would be awsome but and if you can afford it go for it but if moneys an issue go a 20b would be much easier and way cheaper Ive been rallying a rx4 with 13b j port motor for 6 years never touched the motor since rebuilding it plenty hp cheap and easy to look after though it does luv clutches would be on my third now and the ceramic race clutches car is competive with wrx v8s Think its how you look after them that counts always warm before reving dont rev over 9300 or they will twist cranks had a cousin got 160,000 mile out of a rx3 12a never touched it used to start it up have breafest then go to work mick
  11. heaps of pics tell me what youd like to see in spefic will add to my gallery only been to full drag strip once long time ago ran 14.9 sec car is much quicker than that but never been back to try again have done many club days at local race track and hillclimbs car is competive with v8s and turbo 4s and turbo 6s (think the driver holds it back a little) now running holley 600 double pumper bolts straight on to manifold though i did us a spacer to lift it up an inch made my own extractors though will fit with std manifolds mick

  13. i used a toyota steel case 5 speed behind my y44 using the auto bell housing and small adaptor plate works fine mick
  14. hi sorry to tell u nissan presidents where not bought into australia by nissan so no parts support here any presidents in australia are private imports I have been able to purchase gaskets distributor cap and button from a private parts importer here so if you know someone importing japanese parts from japan you should be able to get the hard part is getting part numbers Been running a y44 v8 in my 240z for about 12 years mick
  15. ive been running a y44 nissan v8 for about 12 years now runs fine neat fit in engine bay on pulling a y40 apart we found they well made 4 bolt mains valve guides 4 barrell manifold but never found anyone who hotted one up or made parts for them interestingly the nissan 6 cyl flywheel bolts up to the crank had my fun motors getting tried now really luv to upgrade to the twin cam 4.5 but think ill be going lt1 or Ls1 way mick
  16. hi every one just looking at finding a gen3 motor for my zed the old nissan v8 I have is getting tired found one have been told its 5.3 gen3 with auto from a chevy suburban wondering if any one knew how these went or whether im better to keep looking for a 5.7 still bloody dear down under has anyone heard of a gen 3 powered zed in australia yet thanks mick
