Thanks to a member I found what i was looking for. No longer looking.

Hi Chris!
Thanks for that, i should have been clearer, i am looking for more of a stock look, which means using the existing hangers. I don't really want to drill the hangers either.
If i cant find a MM one then I will have to see what can be fabricated.
I really like this one that Savage42 created:

I kind of wish I would have made a hand throttle using my stock choke lever for bumping the rpms for warm up, sure would have been easier. With the same tune, the engine doesn't run the same with the large balance bar. Also have the balance bar after the injectors isn't ideal.
Not a bad idea, very old school, like the 240Z originally had, maybe you can retro fit the original system. We call it a Choke in the UK, not sure if you call it the same thing.

Well it runs, but terrible. I have a massive vac leak, either from my balance bar not sealing or maybe a throttle body wasn't bolted down correctly, I had issues with one not seating well. Even with throttle plates in the fully closed position it runs happily at 900 rpms. So it's getting a ton of air from somewhere.
Hi there. Did you find the sources of your vacuum leaks? I had an airbox on mine so it was easier to chase them using a smoke tester. Amazing how many leaks you will find when you think everything is sealed properly. All is properly sealed now, i had to use sealer in some placed that i didnt think would ever leak but before i chased them all i noticed that as the engine got warmer, the worse the leaks got, so the revs rose even higher.
Following your thread, i've not put any idle air control on mine, would be nice to have. At present i have to feather the gas pedal for about 40 seconds and it usually all settles down pretty quickly after that.

Hi folks,
I picked up this transmission years ago which was mated to an L28 engine in a kit car...
The tranny does not look like one that would have come with a 280ZX, does anyone recognise what it could have been in originally?
I am having a garage clear out and could really do with finding out what it is exactly which hopefully may help someone in need of it.
Thank you!

Glad you're back on the road Gabe!

Personally, I would have just given them the $50 they asked for and take the other hub somewhere else.... If you were worried about the price they'd charge, you should have asked them how much it would be before they did the job.. if you don't agree a price with him then it's up to him how much to charge you, for him $50 seemed fair.

Agree Tony.
Thanks for the links, I also read about the Testors too - if I do find out the name of the BMW product I'll be sure to let you know.

This looks more like it but the price....!!! http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/catalog/tomei-throttle-coat-throttle-body-butterfly-sealant-p-1946.html

Or do you know which one Nissan/BMW use?

Thanks for the advice guys.
Ryan - I had thought of this idea myself a few days ago and had dismissed it as too crazy.... I already have a synchronometer and a vacuum cleaner (not mine) and gave it a go today - after you giving me the confidence that its not such a mad idea... Amazingly these tools work perfectly and proves to show though that even a tiny bit of light makes the figures vastly different from a butterfly that is properly seated...
Any other tips on getting them perfectly seated is appreciated.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your input, my throttle plates are for 40mm but I hope the screws are the same. Incidentally how well did yours seal when they were closed? Are you supposed to aim for even light all around them or no light/hardly any light? Can't seem to find any reference shots online.

Hi folks,
I need to order a JIS screwdriver to undo the butterfly throttle valves, but have no idea what size JIS Screwdriver I require, no one locally stocks JIS screwdrivers and I will have to buy mail order and hence would like to know the JIS size I need.
Also, is there a source for these screws new as I used a normal Philips on them and you can tell on some of them.
Any help will be most appreciated.
Thanks.
