its the plate that is the problem, and yes the z31 is the match for the rb20, not the z32 which i was confused about. I went ot the nissan dealerships parts dept. and they can get me the one I need, buuut, i have been on this project for a while and would rather do the same thing as the guy with the b&m shifter, minus the b&m shifter. Im just gona take it to a shop and have the modify the plate so that is fits and hchange out the striker arm with the one from the z32 tranny I got the plate from. Hopefully that works and this is the last issue on my build. Thanks guys.

ok, i bought an rb20det tranny and it came without a shifter an the plate. I pulled the plate and shifter from a 300zx z32 and heres my problem with it. The plate doesnt match up on the middle left side. The tranny I have has the one big bolt hole i was told for a shift assistor. When I do match it up, the shifter sits so far back that it only sits in 2, 4, or R gear. Any thoughts?

Ok, rb20 is a rwd engine and drivetrain right? I recently bought one for a rebuild and everything is for awd, including the crank housing bottom ,for oil pan plates on the inside of the oil pan, to the oil strainer and the pan to transmission. I got the rwd rb20det tranny and the size and weight differences are insane. I cant find anywhere to search the serial number from the block, and just want to know what skyline or car came with the awd rb20det version.

go to raw brokerage they got rb25 oil pans for sale 150 and they fit the rb20 im using one now...

yea wikipedia doesnt elaborate on the engine very much when i looked there.

ok, so i know that the rb20det and rb20det-r are basically the same nowaday. rb20dt-r is just an rb20det with a bigger turbo, and fmic right? what else? i wana add on to me rb20 to recreate this in the infiniti m30 for a frankenstein 1987 r31...

the vg30e is already out of the car and the auto tranny is sittin under the car. So I can just mod up the vg30e auto oil pan to fit? I dont want to spend 200 bux ordering a new oil pan if I can just take it to the weld shop and get it done that way. Im in Texa by the way, what parts do you need?

the car i am using is a 1990 infiniti m30 my engine is a rb20det the engine came with the awd tranny and oil pan. i am planning on using a 300zx tranny and converting the rb20det awd oil pan with mods. my buddy said that all i have to do with the awd oilpan is remove the gearbox from it and have some1 weld the hole closed what is your opinion? thanks.

has anybody ever done this? im interested in getting rid of the stock turbo setup and running some supercharged power through it, mainly a daily driver, but drift when i can.

I have an awd rb20det oil pan. All I have to do is remove the gearbox and cover the hole to use it as RWD? thanks.
