zero Posted September 16, 2011 Share Posted September 16, 2011 My G35 coupe suffers from crippling wheel hop. This is a common problem in these cars apparently caused by a soft or torn rear differential bushing. There are a number of companies making solid bushings out of 6061. Here, I find myself with a shop and a lathe and figured I would just make my own. These bushings are press fit into the rear subframe and are a pretty simple part. As I was getting ready to order some 6061 from Mcmaster, it occurred to me that I might want to make it out of some sort of plastic to transmit less vibration to the chassis. I was thinking possibly 6/6 nylon. Any thoughts. Also, I am in the process of getting the exact OD of current solid bushing offerings for the press fit, but if you all had to guess, for a bushing around 3" in diameter, how oversize would you make it (in 6061) to get a good, snug with dry ice, press fit?
