Guest BadKarmaCreepin
i attempted to rebuild my carb. taking it apart was the simplest thing i have ever done, and was pretty fun. then i started to go crazy. certain parts wouldn't go on how they were supposed to and i just freakin gave up. so....i throw all the parts in a toolbox and drive it over to this little independant mechanic outfit, and he actuall agrees to work on it. i was shocked! no one ever wants to touch the thing. while i was looking at the engine and this thing with "weiland" stamped on it. i'm like, i've heard people saying something about this, and i think it was good, so i thought i'd ask. so he charges me $100 to rebuild it, $50 to put it on, and $50 labor, for however long it took for labor(just curious, is this about right, like &250?). he called today and said it was done. and i'm going to pick it up tomorrow. and now we have to questions: 1) what should the price be about, since he hasn't told me yet? 2)is the weiand intake good?(it is the heads, right?) thanks
383 240z
$100 to rebuild??$50 to put it on and $50more for labor those are all labor charges!! the parts should be no more than $60 and it should have taken max. 2hours to rebuild (thats with him scraping the gaskets. and how long can it possiably take to bolt it to a manifold? we are only talking about a fuel line and four bolts!! As for the intake if it is put with the right cam and heads Weiland makes a very good intake. Keith
Guest Locutus
Well there is also some tuning of the carb involved, adjusting mixtures screws and idle, plus kick down cables if they apply. 200 isn't bad to have someone rebuild a carb and install it plus do minor tuning.
