g3nesis
Hey guys, first time making a post been trolling for a few weeks now. Was driving a 82zx N/A but ended up spinning the #6 bearing in my crankshaft. Tried my best to smooth it out, replaced it with a new bearing and spun that one 20 miles later. I just came by a deal for a 79zx in great condition. The head has been removed off the engine, but I'm getting a f54+p90 head out of the deal too. I was going to go the MS route and get a large turbo, etc etc. After research I have decided that the amount of work (and limited mechanical knowledge) I was just going to pick up a 280zx turbo ECU and harness and keep it basic. One of my questions is, is if I get a slightly larger turbo, to run around 12psi, would the ECU handle that? Would I have to install a IC? I figured I would pick up some slightly larger injectors (370cc, is that right?) versus going to the 440cc and running too rich. Would this work? I haven't been able to really find anything. Any help would be appreciated guys! New interior looks nice, not a crack on that dash!
Daphur280
"Daniel-San, you have much to learn" This may get sent the the tool shed, not sure, but if it does, here are some links you should try to investigate/research that will help point you in the right direction. Biggest thing you need to know to help answer your question, is what are your goals. Here you go..... http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/forum/92-turbosupercharger/ http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/19918-the-ultimate-turbo-faqbeginners-guide/ http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/82371-my-notes-on-the-na-l28-to-turbo-swap/ http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/24327-complete-turbocharger-guide/
g3nesis
Yep, slightly read all of those actually. Guess I should of thought it out some more before I made the post, sorry! Over all, just aiming for something a little more then just a stock setup. Guess I was thinking silly questions for a minute!
Daphur280
They're pretty thorough IMO, I've asked a lot of the same questions years ago when I did my setup, I realized I was overlooking a lot of the simple info provided after some "check here and there" responses hence why I put that up. g3nesis
Agreed, guess I'm going to start reading it line for line tonight, hoping to have it towed in the garage this weekend! Thanks again! ...you gotta admit, you are a little bit jealous of my new dash

ComicArtist
In a nutshell, I wouldn't go over 10 psi on a stock tune. If you do attempt 12, retard the timing a hair and run high octane. .....or is it advance the timing....? I forgot. Either way, I wouldn't go over 10. A bigger turbo won't affect the tune noticeably if you keep it at stock boost.
