psdenno
If the brass bushings seem like too much effort to find, install, and fit, there's always the factory original plastic ones available for a few bucks at your local Datsun Dealer's parts department. My original bushings lasted from 1971 until 2010, so I figured another set would get me to the end of my Z driving days. The Nissan dealer had them in stock. makaofox
Darrel I did exactly what you did, and the difference speaks for itself. Like I said for that assortment packet and a packet of E clips I paid less then $10. While on ebay its $14 just for the bushings shipped to your house. Its a very satisfying mod. Norman V
This post made me go out and check why my shifter was so sloppy. After pulling the boot off I looked and there was no bushing. Pulled out the shifter. Went out to the local parts place and bought the HELP bushing assortment pack for $5. Determined which pair fit the shifter best and pressed them in with a bench vise and drilled them out with a 23/32 drill bit. Re-installed shifter and went for a drive. WOW...Feels like a new car.
