randy 77zt Posted November 11, 2000 Share Posted November 11, 2000 want to hop up stock l28turbo in my car but it seems to expensive.i have lifted and carried a 5.0 block-its light.i have to drag a l28 datsun block.thinking about building a 5.0 with aluminum heads that will rev to 7000 rpm with solid roller lifters and a t5 trans-will this be lighter?i am talking loaded engine complete with alternator.i am a tech at a ford dealer so i get free stuff sometimes. blueovalz Posted November 11, 2000 Share Posted November 11, 2000 My experience when I swapped the L24 with a 302 was the L24 weighed 428lbs complete. The 302 weighed 380lbs complete. This was with the aluminum J302 Motorsport heads and an aluminum intake. This encluded the alternators and exhaust manifolds on both engines.
