Dry sump?

I know nothing about this but...does anyone know if a dry sump oil system is available for the 302? Seems to me it would eliminate the oil pan problem, allow you to place the engine even lower (as long as the harmonic balancer wasn't hanging up on anything), plus allow you to move the oil reservoir rearward, helping weight bias.

a dry sump is available for any motor.....

for a ford your looking around $2000-2500 complete (and thats green not red money smile.gif )

a good 3 stage pump is close to $800 a 14 quart tank is $300 , oilpan $400,

loads of -10, -12 fittings and lines $400

crank nose and pulleys, drysump mount $250

misc. hoses and lines and inline filters etc.............

i spent close to $2k to do my race car and got a pump used from a late model stock car.

Dr.,

Look for a mid-80's mustang bi-sump oil pan. Its got a small front sump and a large rear sump that will work. It'll clear the crossmember by about an inch (depending on your mounting scheme) according to a article I read on another web page. I think Milodon makes a circle track pan that is rear sump, but its rather pricey (250.00 or so).

Regards,

Lone
